The Highs and Lows of Spider-Man 2 (PS5)

I liked the stuff with MJ and I’m pretty sure the parts were. They didn’t feel like they had much chemistry was the point because during that boss battle, they got to let out their frustrations of exactly what was going on during the time.

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. It's a good game, but it's not great from the POV of classic iconic Spider-Man in that; 1. The robot arms aren't optional. I'd have no issue with them being included if you could just switch them off. 2. Insistence on Miles. I don't hate Miles, I don't. I hate that Marvel insists on calling him, also, Spider-Man, but I don't hate Miles. But I don't think Miles should be manditory though. 3. Seriously why would they get rid of gadgets?

If you look at group photos of the development team, it was definitely all written and made by the whitest people, which explains how Miles was handled

I definitely get that christian vibe from Peter ever since he got the new face. The way they all act together reek of friends who grew up in a suburban sprawl, went to catholic school, and moved to NYC for university.

Great review. Although you need to have harsher scores. Giving this game an 8/10 is boderline ign "little something for everyone"

the good thing about being autistic and having a weak grasp on emotional topics is that i think the MJ/Peter carnival stuff was very cutesy and wholesome :D

The MJ mission with the symbiote nest during the finale was pretty damn good

I miss being able to perfect dodge instant counter. Having that one sniper webbed and and ready for an instant takedown was always so satisfying. I also miss trip mine...alot

I definitely agree with the gadgets, I was so disappointed when they removed the trip web. Could’ve made some touch ups but game is still so good

Saying the Li stuff feels forced is a little weird to me. Like obviously miles didnt mention him in his game, he was defeated already. Seeing the guy who killed you dad is gonna bring up some stuff you thought you put behind you

Explain me how grounded you want Spider-Man to be because this is still a marvel character with super powers against super powered villains and aliens. Miles has the powers meanwhile Peter has the gadgets. Arms are gadgets made by Pete you just use them as abilities not "gadgets". You fly like Iron-Man i mean seriously Spider-Man always had web wings like since the beginning. Also its funny how Miles cant have a great character because he is black but if you think about it what kind of character did Peter have in this game? Suit made him angry and he got saved a million times and was grateful for it thats all. Its still a Marvel game not The Last of Us. But maybe it is just me and i dont expect every game to be industry redefining and especially when it is a superhero game about Spider-Man.

I disagree with a few things:

- Miles having a revenge urge against Li is perfectly fine. Usually every Peter Parker has to deal with the “caught up to the killer but decides to let him live” thing. Lol besides Tobey anyways, killed him by accident. Anyways this is the first time he’s faced Li since then, so this is perfectly reasonable story arc for his character .

- The story is about Pete and Miles taking their next step in life while this Kraven and Venom nonsense hits the streets. Miles wants to go to college. Good. He wasn’t pushed to the side by the story, just by Peter. At the end of the day , ironically, Miles is the Sasuke to Peters Naruto. It’s truly Pete’s story but he’s like 2% less less important. It’s not that he doesn’t do anything in the story, it’s that he isn’t a catalyst for the events in the story . That’s Peters role given the symbiote , Lizard, and Kravens antics.

- the fights taking place in small settings is supposed to force you to get better with the parry system. You’re not supposed to have a lot of room to run in a boss fight in any game really, unless the style of the game or boss is built around distance and closing/keeping it. A bit of a pointless nitpick.

I love that when miles goes into peter's head, they used the ps4 be greater trailer of the sinister six knocking him down.

The game feels shorter than the first imo. The third act where NYC gets wrecked in spidey 1 felt more impactful than 2.
First game: Devil's breath epidemic, escaped convicts running amok, sinister 6 presence and silver sable acting as token MP. Also the cops and emergency services doing their best given the situation.

Second game: venom bomb lite. The scenario doesn't have enough impact. NO COPS. NO FIREFIGHTERS. NO AMBULANCES
How about the Flame cult go full symbiote Worship?

The community stuff feels off/forced. Not enough crime fighting/super hero side missions

I think we all need to admit that Insomniac's character writing hasn't been good in a very long time.

MJ part should be scary as a mortal. Instead she just a fucking John Wick who took down the entire squad by herself. Training with Silver Sable your ass. Does she injected super soldier serum?
