NBA finals aren't World Championship. FIBA World Cup and Olympics are the real basketball World Championship. It's just that FIBA and Olympics aren't that marketing & advertising savvy compared to the NBA in terms of basketball market. NBA is National Basketball Association, not International Basketball Association or Global Basketball Association.

NBA is a domestic league (American league), so they're domestic/national champions. But they're not International champions.

NBA teams only compete against other NBA teams. That's not World competition.

1. Noah Lyes is the fastest American ever in the 200M as he is the national record holder in the 200M (Faster than Tyson Gay, Michael Johnson, Etc.)

2. The finals at the 2023 world championships had one of the fastest 200M final’s EVER assembled in track and field history (Noah won).

3. Tyson Gay won the world Championship in 2007 in the 100 and 200M (beating Bolt and Powell).

3. Tyson Gay literally tested positive for anabolic steroids and was banned for some time.

4. Noahs whole point was that the NBA teams represent whatever city they are from. They don’t represent any countries and they don’t raise their countries flag when they win.

And that's the point Noah, and apparently Mal, are missing. Last time I checked the defending Olympic champions are Team USA...who play in the NBA. And the best players on every other international team...play in the NBA too smh.

If you're good enough to be in the NBA, you're one of the best in the world, period. Rosters are 15-20 guys, you have to be elite just to be on the bench. There are no great international players turning their nose up at the NBA, if you can play there, you're there. Giannis, Embiid, Jokic and Luka are 4 of the top-10 players in the league. Wembanyama, if he pans out, enters that discussion too. The Olympics became tough for America once all the best international players started playing in the NBA ffs, so how aren't you a world champion if you have to beat the best competition the world has to offer?

In football "soccer, there are other league rivals , even tho PL considered the best league and there are so much more competitions in other leagues and best go to play in champions league, and even then that don't consider as the world champions. They are just champions league winners. In football , they got the world cup to decide who the world champions are.

You have to play in a world championship to be a world champion. The English premier league has the best soccer players in the world but the winner is never declared the world champions. The Champions league has the best players in the world from all over the world. The winner is the European champions not the world champion.
