No AVB. 😢 Then again, there are AVB/Dante bridges available…
Ответитьfirst of all: yes, nothing destroys RME
and Glenn, it's really not cool to demonstrate how to save even a few hundret bucks as long as the Antelope stuff costs you a mere 5000 Euro to begin with.
Anyone who has the money to invest in such a marvellous machine will have no problem spending another 1000 bucks on "proper" cabling
But not telling the audience tge price tag of the interface and then going on a rampage hie expensive the db25 connectors are....is a little ridiculous
stay real
anyhow...I have ZERO idea why anyone with a metal band at home (i thought this was your primary target audience) would ever consider buying an interface like that. that's far out, man
Hi, Glen. Serious question: WTH are you talking about right now?
I mean, as a gear agnostic I'm happy that you found a rig that suits your workflow. I mean it. I'm happy for you.
That said, I'll be damned if you didn't just look straight into the camera and
a) dump all over MADI like it's some kind of prosumer kludge. You know perfectly well that it's as professional a standard as there is and that the market is awash with excellent 32-channel MADI AD/DA boxes.¹
b) Denigrate RME—a company with the best drivers and support in the business—and
c) praise Antelope Audio—a company with a long, sordid history of buggy drivers, anti-consumer practices, and a litany of horror stories on every audio forum on the internet. Maybe lately they've got their act together but a reputation is a hard thing to shake and it's worth a mention.
Again, I'm pleased that the Orion works for you but please try to keep the content of your monologues within orbit of reality.
Also, if you no longer want your FireFace then I'll be happy to drive in from TO and take it off your hands at a proper discount.
¹ that fit your budget if not your rack space requirements. Was that it? You wanted everything to fit in a single rack space?
whining about your pricey gear. lol
Ответитьwhy dont you connect and I/0 unit to the dante or adat
ОтветитьLOL, antelope gives you all that and then hangs you out to dry with bad drivers and bad support, no thanx. Until they sort out their driver game antelope is not coming anywhere near my studio
ОтветитьOK OK, QUAD TWISTED PAIR over cat5....I DIG THAT!
ОтветитьOK STOP RIGHT THERE! The RME has 2 sets of ADAT on the rear..... Real rap the Behringer ADA 8200 sound great, I have never had issues with them, I use them LIVE and tour applications and in studio on my SAW/SAC RIG and they are hella cost effective. The there ae other options too. There is your solution, I two use RME HDSP, HDSPe and FIREFACE 800's.
ОтветитьI'm quite frankly shocked the music industry still uses the old computer connection that we uaed to connect our 14.4k US Robotics modems to our 486's and that RJ45s haven't replaced them years ago.
I assisted on the cabling and planning for a 100 person office and i had to beg them to use RJ45 stuff. This was in the mid 1990s when fast throughput was coming into play. We'd make cables that converted back and forth for maybe $5 per connection. Yes, this is 🇨🇦
Oh man it's under 5k! I just bought 2 of them!
ОтветитьHow stable is it for tracking at low buffer sizes? How low does it go?
ОтветитьReally? Bokeh dots Glenn? What are you a tiktok influencer now?
ОтветитьThey should make it so you can switch your pin out. I work for one of the descendants of the Bell system. I can make ethernet cables and change the pin out to what ever you need.
ОтветитьGlenn. I heard you were looking for home studio owners, with a drumming background. I think, you should consider reaching out to 66Samus, he’s doing solid work on his drumsound. Maybe a collab vid?
Anyway best of luck with expanding for the drums, love your content
Just passed this on.
ОтветитьAll the people saying ill stay with my rme, cool, ilm stick with my antelope, whats your point? You obviously arent in the market to buy this, which is what this video is intended for?
ОтветитьI like these but i heard they have driver problem
ОтветитьCould you do a video on some DAW’s because I think a lot of people aren’t really that informed about them. I know I certainly could learn a lot about them
ОтветитьI forget you’re Canadian until I hear that phrase “what it’s all about “
ОтветитьFerrofish have the A32 Pro Dante, Tascam have the ML-32 D and RME have the M32 DA and AD Pro, the RME is the most expensive option the Tascam cheapest (Dante only the other 2 have everything).
ОтветитьAntelope has been a straight up customer support and product reliability nightmare since they were called Aardvark 20 some years ago. Even Sweetwater won't touch them with a ten-foot pole. Buyer beware, and I'm sorry that you've stooped to flogging for them. RME for me please.
ОтветитьI want to play with that studio.
ОтветитьWhen are you getting your new studio? Is it on the plans for next year? You saved yourself some space but you still need a bigger and brighter studio. It's dark in there.
Ответитьrack room would fit you perfect. SoundTools catbox may work for your snakes.
ОтветитьRat Sound has cat 5 breakout boxes. That should do the trick
ОтветитьSays; "You don't need expensive gear" -then proceeds to tell you all aboot his expensive gear. (Yeah I meant to spell it aboot)
ОтветитьThey still put out shitty drivers. I’ve heard the nightmares. I would never go near this company.
ОтветитьSlow tools. I love it.😂
Ответить$5000 + Tax later ... you have the galaxy 😂
ОтветитьThink you got the wrong one, Orion 32 gen4 is the ideal from Antelope. This one has pre-amps
ОтветитьI can see how you’re excited about it. This routing technology has been around for a quite a while five or six years I’ve been using it with.MOTU you should also be able to send and return from external gear
ОтветитьHey Glenn, there's a company here in Australia called TitanAV who make a rj45 to F XLR breakout box that appears to adhere to AES/EBU standards. Probably won't be anywhere near cost effective for you on the other side of the world, but I thought I would share that with you.
Ответить😂
ОтветитьSigh. I just can't watch.
ОтветитьEric Valentine uses Antelope just saying.
ОтветитьDude: @.30 Your before, and after look is crazy. Keep up what ever you are doing!! Oh, and F. Y. Glenn
ОтветитьAntelope rocks - I'm an Orion Gen 3 user myself. I used RME stuff for a solid 20 years before switching, and I really loved their gear, but now there's just no way I'd switch back. Not to crap on RME, but they really don't have anything that compares to it. It's the difference between a BMW and a Ferrari; the BMW definitely doesn't suck, but a Ferrari is a Ferrari. Being able to do 32 channels of analog I/o through a single 1 rack unit - no lightpipe, no MADI, no external clocking or any other convoluted bullshit - has just made life so much better. I don't even need to make a composite audio device. Not everybody is going to need a channel count like that - but if you're planning on tracking a band live it's gonna save an ungodly amount of hassle. Plus the plug-ins are some of the best I've ever heard; usually I don't care much for plugins - but these are so close to actual hardware, it's pretty difficult to tell which is hardware and which isn't when you A-B them.
It's important to note that the network cables needed for the Rj-45 to 25 pin D plug adapter needs to be SHIELDED - regular Cat-5 cables won't work. If the RJ-45 connector housing on the cable doesn't have a steel covering, it's the wrong cable. Most cat-5 or 6 cables are going to have a housing made only from plastic - that is NOT what you want. You specifically need shielded cable.
I considered this interface and almost pulled the trigger until I read the hundreds of horror stories. On paper this thing has an impressive list of features but where it excels hardware wise its let down by the software (drivers). Then your stuck relying on support to get your gear running and their support is rubbish.
I went with a Ferrofish A32 Pro for my hardware hooked up to an RME Madiface for the RME Drivers and I have a rock solid weapon with 32 I/o analog, 32 I/o ADAT, dedicated monitor outs and a list of other features. One of the best decisions ive made for my studio, ill never leave RME.
I had the same situation and these were my investigations:
-Antelope Audio Galaxy 32 Synergy Core Dante/HDX/Thunderbolt 3
$4,995
-Ferrofish A32pro Dante Multi-Format Converter $3,899
-Neve StarNet ADA16 16x16 AD/DA Dante X2 $7,590
-Lynx Aurora (N) 32 in, 32 out (Dante) $7,199 (Thunderbolt 3) $6,439
-RME M-32 DA Pro II Dante 32-channel A/D & D/A converter $9,198
-UAD Apollo x16 Gen 2 X2 Thunderbolt 3 $7,998
-Avid MTRX Studio 16x16 DANTE & HDX X2 $9,998
-Merging Technologies Hapi MKIII (without expansion cards) $2,795
-BURL Audio B80 MOTHERSHIP 3 AD/DA Converter with BMB3 Dante backplane (without expansion cards) $3,195
It is entirely accurate and understandable that Glenn has chosen Antelope over other alternatives. I hope that over time you can give us more feedback on the drivers where so many people complain about Antelope. congratulations!
When I was in university many years ago I bought something from antelope audio and what a piece of garbage it was the software never worked right. It was a lot of money for me back then so I'll never give them another dollar.
Ответитьpresonus 4848 comparison maybe :-)
ОтветитьI love REAPER. Stick with it.
ОтветитьAntelope disappointed me with the zenQ, stability one of the worst I saw, terrible technical support, and a preamp has a noise that appeared after a firmware update that so far has not been solved, afx2daw stops working when it feels like it. There is nothing better than RME or UA
ОтветитьTry the Ferrofish Dante interface. That's what I do with my console. I have the Antelope Word Clock and are still waiting for a software update so that I can control it again on the current MacOs. So that is their weak point. Software support.
ОтветитьYou'll be waiting for a driver when the os updates and rme users won't. Facts.
ОтветитьAntelope developed such a poor customer support reputation that they have to pay people like poor Glen to try and move their products again ☹️
Ответить😂😂 SLOW TOOLS 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьIm an amatuer, so this is to send frome your console to your interface? If so, that's cool. I did not know consoles were that complex to send. I guess it makes sense though, you want that to be as pure a signal as possible.
Ответитьno MIDI in\out
ОтветитьI know that someone offered Cat5 to XLR as a DIY Kit, Board, Connectors and all that stuff was in the Kit. The only thing missing was a case, but he had files so you could 3D Print them. I think he was from Germany and i don´t know it it was or is AES Compatible and if they are still available
