Casinos shouldn't even exist in Australia, I wouldn't even call it a business, it destroys lives, mine & my family's included, I will never support or set foot inside Crown Casino ever again, casinos are cursed once you know they tear families apart, I grew up with a family member who was addicted to gambling, even after we fought hard to help stop their obsessive behavior, Crown casino would keep sending letters in the mail every 2 to 3 weeks trying to tempt my family member back into Crown by giving away free credit in an attempt to get them to come back & waste more money that they didn't have, they were already in crippling debt because of Crown, in 2023 we're still slowly paying off thousands of dollars in credit card debt flushed down Crown Casinos coffers, my family member could not help themselves, we didn't know it at the time but they were exhibiting early signs of Alzheimer's disease, we could not get through to our family member no matter what we would do or say, they were caught in a loop of gambling without even knowing why, even after they'd win on rare occasions the winnings would just be tossed back into the pokie machines, and the free credit sent in the mail kept reminding them to return even when they would take a break after all their money was spent, they would ask to borrow money all the time incessantly & would become agitated when they didn't get it, then they resorted to pawning household items & jewelry, and finally stealing from us, it's been many years but we're still paying for the consequences instigated by Crown Casino, the Casino floor is specifically designed with no windows & no clocks so you cannot tell what time of day or night it is, they offer free coffee & alcohol to VIP members which just means you're given a VIP card because you're a good customer to their business, it has nothing to do with exclusivity, when we would hide the Crown casino mail from my family member they would begin to relax for a little while until the new mail would arrive if we didn't get to it first, we tried to cancel the incoming mail from Crown Casino but we were not allowed because only the authorized person could close the subscription mail which would automatically be sent to your home address without permission when anybody signed up for a pokies Crown Casino card, even my grandma was dragged to Crown Casino by somebody who was organizing trips for senior citizens to spend the day at Crown Casino by bussing them to & from the casino, my grandmother had no business going to Crown, she wasn't interested in pokies & she didn't even know how to play pokies, but the trip chaperones would try to teach them for some reason, why?, and why did they choose a Casino of all places?, and why the gaming floor of Crown casino specifically?, I never understood this when I found out but I didn't make the connection at the time, only after gran told me that she didn't like going to Crown Casino because Crown was the only location the trip organizers took them to, and she didn't enjoy sitting in front of a pokie machine for hours, there's something terribly wrong with this?, this is just what we went trough & personally witnessed, imagine all the crap we don't get to see, why do we allow this sort of thing in Australia?, in Melbourne?, we're better than this, Australian's are the greatest people I've ever met, precisely because Aussie's care about others & our society, I love Australian's because we actually look out for each other, other nations are far more wealthy & more powerful than us but that's not what makes a country great nor safe, it's the people in it, their morality & the love for their families & their children's future, the willingness to help the less fortunate & giving everybody a fair go, we have never stood for ripping people off, I know a thief when I see one, I know it doesn't seem like it now but in time Crown Casino will bend the morality of the people & corrupt the hearts of the politicians they rub shoulders with, such an insidious organization like Crown Casino can do this just by existing, employing & attracting the wrong kind of people to succeed in in something they would have failed a if they were alone, it's already happening, the last thing we need to adopt from certain countries is their cannibalistic capitalism practices where they extract the limited wealth of lower income people & funnel it upwards to people who already have it all but are not satisfied, my only hope is that Australian's learn from disasters happening on the other side of the globe, let's keep Australia beautiful.

Crown isnt the problem, they did things by going around the law and bending the law,They didnt break the law. Its the regulator that isnt doing their job so getting rid of crown isnt the solution because another company will take over and do the same and thats operate and do things within the law and bend it as much as they can.

Wonderful expose of deregulation not only in Australia but worldwide over decades. The bit of regulation with regard to casinos, corporations, developers etc. is so watered down and can be manipulated at any time to favour these entities makes the prospect of any reigning in of these reckless and all consuming people at the top (in government etc.) virtually impossible.

However anyone making a decision to open a casino / issue the required approval to open a casino needs to understand that any and all gambling dens that have existed historically and will exist into the future, will attract a criminal element.

Now from a business perspective why should the casino care where their customers get their money from.

In addition maybe law enforcement needs to take the lead on this as they are best positioned to investigate and prosecute. Instead of trying shift some of the responsibilities for the ground work onto the casino!

The fines are small on purpose, nobody would set a maximum 1 mill fine for a casino and believe it is enough to stop illegal or immoral activity. What complete joke. They think we're mugs ... and we are.

Not just the regulators, what about the big 4 auditors that give these slimeballs an air of credibility and honesty yet turn a blind eye to all their dodgy practices??? Same with the bank auditing, how can these banks be audited, given sign off and yet nobody picks up millions in illegal practices, money laundering, etc, etc?
