Very nicely done! curious though as to why you were assigned a 7000 transponder code for hard IMC and also basic service over traffic service as clearly you required radar for any traffic information.

Damn . Single engine IFR. Challenging. Hand flying, dialing in the next ATC frequency also a challenge. Well done.

Dude! Nobody cares what it looks like outside so keep the camera on the panel as that is what you are trying to demonstrate. I taught instruments for years and would certainly provide guidance and explanation were I making a video like this. Best of luck, but this is a rather weak format!

Rules must be very different in the UK? What if the controller said unable to provide an IFR clearance?

I remember IFR in my 172 (G-BOIX) back in the day. Hard work to do it right. I'm VFR only these days with the occasional flirtation in marginal conditions to test my decision making skills. It was great to sit in the comfort of my office during this lockdown and relive the experience, thanks, James.

I'm guessing the VFR only pilots in the UK don't get to fly very much...

It gets harder when you can’t ’ see the runway at 300ft and the glide of your ils is malfunctioning..

Reminds me when I was flying in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Did my IMC rating there. I would fly to Carlisle, Blackpool, Dundee.... Loved it.
