ОтветитьI was a whoop subscriber for four years. After using the apple watch ultra and other software such as Athlytic for calculating HRV much like Whoop for a fraction of the price, I question the accuracy of the information being provided. One could argue that the whoop data, its benefit to the user is in observing the trends in the data and the accuracy of its measurements is not that critical. I just cannot justify for the price point and the overall lacking experience with their useless customer support. In the end I was not sold on its value to me at the exceptional cost. I lost a band at the gym that I had had paid two years of service on. Instead of doing the right thing and taking care of the customer, it took two weeks of sending requests to whoop support to even illicit a response from the company. After two more questions and going back and forth with their support, I let them know that I was dissatisfied with their lack of care to my needs as a customer. I ended up purchasing an Aura ring, and will see if perhaps the culture of that company is perhaps a better fit. Perhaps they have more value for their customers. Whoop could care less about theirs.

Just the information I was looking for as I love apples ecosystem but am as clumsy as you are and was very unsure about how tough it is. - And I love to see how you are such a machine with 47. I'm 37 and started crossfit a year ago being overweight and unhappy most of my life. now much fitter after 300+ sessions and going to do my first hyrox at pro level this year. You inspire me to keep it up at least another decade. 💪🏻🙏🏻🙂
ОтветитьI have Keratoconus too, the scleral contacts don’t work for me well so I just wear glasses. What do you use to see better? I also I love my Apple Watch Series 7 I have it on almost 24/7 lol and will get ultra 4 next year

ОтветитьCan someone tell me if Apple Watch has something similar to what Garmin does with tracking "4w load focus", how much low aerobic (blue), high aerobic (orange), and anaerobic (purple) activity I have done over a period of time, so I know when to do a high intensity vs a zone2 workout?

I came across this video because I have done 3 weightlifting workouts (30min to 40min each) since I bought my Apple Watch S9. I use the Traditional Strenght workout and it seems like the watch overcounts the calories burnt. I know that apple uses algorithms and that the watch isn't that accurate, but I really feel like it overcounts for arount 20% more than the reality. That bothers me alot actually, because I don't really know if I have to rely on it. I am just asking you guys if you think that it actually works, so I can continue using this workout without fear ! ОтветитьCouldn't agree more about going with the Apple Watch. I was a long time Whoop user myself but just recently let the subscription end. I will be going with Apple as well. It is just not worth the monthly commitment. Ive been waiting for Apple to dial in the sleep tracking as thats what I felt was holding me back from ditching whoop. But the third party apps will be good enough. Been saying for a long time that Apple will put a hurting on Whoops subscriptions once they offer better sleep data. Especially for those who have an Apple ecosystem.

ОтветитьIts almost impossible to me use the AWU on a WOD, its always slamming on my wrist wraps or hands and do things... When i have a AW7 i can turn my crown and it dont happen but now on AWU if i change orientation it keeps slamming action button and making segments, its so annoying

You can go into settings and flip the screen, so the buttons will be on the left side.
I keep pausing and ending workout on my AW (Series 5 though), but I found that I could flip the screen and haven't ended or paused a workout ever since.
Took a few hours to get used to, but it's perfect for me.
Only criticism is why do people now make video with the “jump cuts” people will say a sentence then cut/stop the video and say another sentence the cut/stop again, it’s Almost like watching max headroom.
Side note just ordered the ultra 2 and still going to keep my garmin.. I like wearing the chest and getting more involved stats.. if Apple really wants to up their game they will make a chest strap or make strap compatible with Apple Watch
how does sleep track work if u have to charge ur watch?
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I had the Whoop, then went to a Garmin and now waiting on my Apple Ultra 2 to arrive. Funny how so many of us had the same experience with the Whoop. I got sick of paying for it too monthly. I also use wrist straps when weight training so I just started taking my Garmin off to train but it kind of sucks to not have the data. When I get my Ultra 2, I will try your wristband approach so thanks for the tip on that. I will also check out the app you mentioned. Sounds like a good one.

One thing I don’t like, is that when you track your sleep, it won’t record resting heart rate. I prefer to get my RHR measurements during sleep.

ОтветитьThe Apple watches are absolutely no good for me, the horrendous battery life, and hap hazard scattering of health Stats. I do like the Apple eco system- however the Watch I bought was the 51mm Epix Pro- yeah there definitely is a learning curve with the Garmin connect , but worth the effort as its superb.

Was Athlytic a one time thirty dollar app? Because at the moment 08/09/2023 it is subscription based as well. Yeah it's not as bad as whoop or whatever else, but a subscription is still a subscription.

ОтветитьThis is a great video, I like how you mentioned how it's just good to have something that works as a watch. I had a Fenix 6 and currently testing the Whoop and an Apple Watch. Lots of reviews seem to be paid by Whoop to be honest. The app is great but I've been finding the placement either on wrist or bicep a bit funny, always having to readjust and annoying me.
Have you drilled down into comparisons between AWU+Athlytic vs Whoop?
Whoop is the blockbuster of wearables. I literally wrote an email to them like 2 years ago ( still have the email) telling them they should include step count and other metrics because people don't want to have a million devices on their wrists and they were super dismissive and rude and essentially told me we know what we're doing. And I said alright just wait until someone comes along and does what you're doing and more and does it for less than you're charging and canceled my subscription. Now look at them - people are jumping ship for the reasons I outlined in my email to them. They deserve it. If you don't change with the time you get left behind.

ОтветитьI don’t think the Apple Watch count’s burned calories properly. My cycling buddy 🚴 gives me shit constantly. He says, “ there’s no way you’re burning 🔥 2000 calories playing golf”.
ОтветитьIf they had the Apple Watch Ultra without cellular that would be great but not liking the idea of that always in contact with my skin. Though I suppose you could turn off the cellular mode. It is cool that you can use it as a dive computer.
