I can stay in non thought for quite a while buy when I come back, my problems are still there. How do I fix the many issues in my life if I don't think? Because I still think the same about them when I come back to thinking.

Being silent and in the moment all the time and not thinking doesn't make you a spiritual person it simply makes you somebody who's gullible and can't express their views

Okay so here's my question (to all): Does this mean it's not possible to use the practice of presence as a way to stay alert when a person is exhausted and doesn't have the luxury of sleeping; for example, in the case of parents raising a newborn? Because it sounds like he's saying toward the end that you will fall straight through the median of thinking down into sleep when you are tired (?)

The solution to uncontrolled thinking is not to stopping thinking completely. Of course not thinking will make you feel relaxed but that's about it. The solution to overthinking It is to learn to think in a controlled relaxed and productive manner.

Or are there periods when you are just noticing you're thinking, alert yet there is thinking going on?.... would love to know what it's like to let go of thinking for full day and weeks as I move thru the day and daily tasks.

This is very dangerous and should be banned. Convincing people to stop critical thinking is obviously the classic scam of a snake oil salesman: “Stop thinking and buy my book - it will make you happy”.

Truth

Everyone who says that you can stop thinking never really gives a method or way to do it. It is all generalities when they explain it. There may be moments between thoughts but to stop all thought?
