McGurk Effect (with explanation)

i was wrong every time hahah i got " ah ah ah", "pah pah pah" and bah bah bah"

I heard ah ah ah. What does that mean?

It seems as though all variables are not taken into account hard of hearing ,poor vision, intelligence level, basic awareness ,attention span, maybe I missed something but if all variables are not accounted for everything is a delusion.

Came here from a link in a Sprouts video on Dyslexia. For the first two clips; visual + audio and audio only, I heard the same phonetic sound repeated: "ba ba ba" . I can't hear da da da at all. In the third clip with only the visual input: I have no idea. He might as well as be just opening and closing his mouth doing a fish imitation.

Im weird and heard Ahh the first three times and Baa the last times

Just hear "bah" all the time, and from the beginning. Nothing else. :(

I don't know if it is related to my having asperger's.

Heard Ah,ah,ah

Every time I heard the audio I heard "ba ba ba" and the way his mouth was moving looked like he was saying "ah ah ah"

But the guys face says "I don't get payed enough for this"

Watching this and the original from 2006, I can only hear "ba-ba-ba" in either case. I wonder if years of seeing internet videos with visuals and sound out of sync have changed my perception; I am simply not inclined to infer anything from the mouth movement, which in many videos seems to be nearly as little related to the sound as facial expressions or bodily gestures.

I couldn't tell what the first one was, understood the ba ba ba but then was clueless on the final part. This is interesting and I think I 'll be looking for more on this.

My brain heard ba ba ba from the first time. I did not notice the notes below stating the two options. Why didn't it work on me? I kept my eyes open & heard ba ba ba like a sheep. Perhaps it's because I'm an audio engineer.

Perhaps this effect has a role in helping deaf people who are able to speak to anticipate what the speaker will say in front of him, so they ask him to speak slowly.

Thank god people also heard aa aa. I thought something was fundamentally wrong with me.

Now this is interesting. I always hear "ba" because my eyesight was very bad when I was a child. I could not rely on reading lips to learn how to pronounce words.
