Nerd Stuff - Possible Fixes for Elgato Facecam Performance Issues

my cam works just extremely blurry until im super up close as if the micro lense is the only thing on if it has multiple lenses i wonder if its a cord issue or what .. it just looks like 540 p in 1080p just hope its not the cord

So I built a new pc recently and I'm assure all my drivers are updated. Even made sure it wasn't a BIOS issue. I used this all the time on my previous PC and never had an issue so it's just baffling that I'm now having problems with a much better pc. The only thing I haven't tried yet is the USB cord but my hopes aren't high

Hey man I'm currently having issues with my cam as well and it's been a month and shit is still not resolved. Replies are slow and they didn't even completely solve the problem. Idk how more patient can i be. at first it gets stuck in the loading in the hub menu aight then it was fixed but then another issue appeared which is it says the camera is used by something but it dosen't say it just shows the camera is currently being used by. like id even know what is using my camera ain't there like a thing where i can check what is using my camera? I've tried unstalling and reinstalling it for so many times i don't even know what else to do i just feel defeated man. u know any simular issues bro? i really need some help man. if anyone knows how to fix this problem please reply to me!!!

We're having issues with the video clarity. We have tried the settings and using brighter led lights, still looks grainy like an old webcam. Not super tech savvy, just frustrated with webcams and the lack of ease. With all the advanced technology today one would think this would be way easier.

Facecam needs to work with USB 3.0. By default, Windows comes with power options configured to reduce USB port consumption. When the power consumption of these ports is reduced, the camera stops functioning properly. What you need to do is disable Windows from reducing USB power. To do this, you can follow these instructions:

1) Click on the Start menu and select the Settings gear icon.
2) In the Settings window, click on the System icon.
3) On the left-hand menu, click on the Power & sleep option.
4) Scroll down to the Related settings section and click on Additional power settings.
5) In the Power Options window, click on the Change plan settings link next to the power plan that you are currently using.
6) Next, click on the Change advanced power settings link.
7) In the Power Options window, scroll down to the USB settings section and click on the plus sign (+) to expand it.
8) Next, click on the USB selective suspend setting to expand it.
9) You will see two options: On battery and Plugged in. Click on both options and change the setting to Disabled.
10) Click on Apply and then OK to save the changes.
11) Close all open windows and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

That's it! USB selective suspend should now be disabled on your Windows 10 or 11 device.

In addition to this, it is essential to have your computer's drivers and Elgato drivers and software updated. Good luck!

Which cable I buy? My camera keeps shutting off mid stream.

My issue is when applying a blur effect for my cam. My video when going live freezes on and off. Once i select ELGATO face cam vS ELGATO Virtual FACECAM. The camera works perfect with no issues. I really want the blur effect to work without any freezing

Having issues with my facecam, Out of the box it kinda looked blurry, and I was struggling to get the chroma key right. Almost like it's a super cheap webcam that can tells a face from a butt. Anyways I realized yesterday that it's also not saving, I contacted corsair waiting for support. I've done all drives and firmware stuff, Still, the problem remains the same. Hopefully, I can get this sorted out. The local store that sold me this has a handling fee haha so they actually charge you for faulty products..... o well let's see what happens

I need a 10' long cable so I tried the USBc to USBC and it didn't work. Beefy computer but the camera is too finicky.

Hi guys! My elgato kept freezing too and I got a PCI-e extention card (30 dollar or so) and plugged the camera usb cable in there and now it works for me. Hope it helps.

Hey! so I have a question that I'm confused on, I recently got the Elgato Webcam, and I love it but the only problem is I'm having this blue flickering going? it seams to only happen at night time when its darker and I've tried shutting off anything LED or light based in my office to no avail so it isn't environmental lighting, anyway to fix this? I know you mentioned cords but is it a specific one? anyone help would be fantastic, thank you!

I've come to find that if you're using an external Elgato 60S capture card, it competes with the streamcam for power, thus forcing 1080 60fps to struggle in streamlabs. I just got an internal 4k 60 Pro Mk.2 and I have had no problems since. Figured I'd update you!

Hey so this video is awesome.
I got mines yesterday and it worked fine for a bit. It also works in the hub fine but in obs it works sometimes or sometimes nothing at all.
I am going to try all the suggestions you mentioned. It sucks that I have to possible to get a new cable now.

This sadly didn't solve my issue. Had to return the cam as I tried it on three other machines, and the same freezing error happened. Thinking on buying it from another supplier and try and contact Elgato support, as I didn't do that the first time. They might have a fix so I can use it.

So I used a new cable and it works fine. No more freezing but now I get random flickering on the camera. I turned of the lighting to see if that was causing it but nope, still flickers. Today was the first time it ever happened. Also, the video becomes desynced from the audio and the way I fix it is by deactivating and reactivating the camera in SLOBS. It becomes pretty annoying though since I have to do it multiple times n a 3-4 hour stream. Going to contact Elgato about the flickering but honestly I'm prepared to just send it back. This is such a hassle...

Hm, I guess I'll try it with the either cable once I get em (tomorrow thanks to Amazon prime) but if neither of them work then I'll look into the drivers thing. I'm a complete Neanderthal when it comes to computer knowledge so I'll probably have to use that driver booster 😂

Just got the cable you talked about last video and it’s working greatly! Hopefully we get some type of support for recording inside of the app cause I feel like it loses quality a bit when you take the facecam to obs

What issues were you having? Mine seems to freeze up after a couple minutes in OBS. I was thinking it was my CPU was not able to run it along with OBS.

dude thank you, I think that firmrate update did the trick. now i just gotta figure out the best settings, cause i just cant make it look as nice as all these other professionals.

I got the new cable you recommended today, and noticed a difference but it seems like my problem stems from the capture card and webcam fighting for computer resources. We'll see when I get home.

Yeah I also sent support a zip file they wanted by email, they haven't replied but I'm guessing they're going to give me the same advice to update the drivers. I'm thinking it could also be the USB cable that comes with the webcam. Sucks you have to pay more money just to get it to work.

I used to have Driver booster too. That might just work for me, I'll check tonight when I get home. Still watching
