Actually, if you think about it, since the sun breathing is the first breathing style and the others are derived from it, he should be able to use any breathing style.

I don't like how Tanjiro just thinks of a memory of Zenitsu's monologuing very casually, and then he just can Thunder breath.
I think a easy fix, that could have made it a bit more believable, would be Zenitsu trying to learn Tanjiro some basic techniques, but Tanjiro fails, and than this scene could play on top of that background.

The way the series made thunder breathing feel like, with their decision of Tanjiro learning it by just thinking about some instructive words, makes it feel like Thunder breathing isn't anything special, and very available - like a beginners jutsu or technique.

And I thought this series was all about hard work and payout. Sweat and tears. The true meaning of Dedication defeats Talent and Magic?

Regardless of Tanjiro using sun breathing, it makes absolutely no sense that he'd be able to use thunder breathing while exhausted, with 1 leg, and never having done it before. It's crazy people are trying to rationalize this.
