I am sure this song has a very special, cherished, & personal meaning for most if not all who hear it, as it does for me
Ответить“Now his life is full of wonder, but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land….”
-- John Denver, Rocky Mountain High
RIp pops. He sang John Denver everyday growing up. My goodness how awesome ❤
ОтветитьIt must be fantastic to be able to write songs like this. It’s so good 👍🇬🇧.
ОтветитьSong so good imma book a flight to Paris, sure hope nothing goes wrong 😂
ОтветитьOne of my favourite John Denver songs. Such an amazing musician he was before his tragic death in 1997. Love his music
ОтветитьOof - my Dad's fave song. Kept him coming back to CO after all his multistate jobs. Can't hear it without onions on the eyes. (he passed in 2020).
ОтветитьNot only a great singer songwriter but a pretty dang good actor as well
ОтветитьI am in tears. The song got stuck in my head today so listening on here. My first album was John Denver's Greatest Hits for my 6th birthday in 1974...❤
ОтветитьYou press play on your Walkman, and walk out of the Denver International Airport baggage claim onto the taxi deck. You see the shades of morning light on the mountains far away, and sit on a bench and listen and cry. It is quite some time before you decide to get in a taxi.
ОтветитьBisa bisanya selera musik gue musik 70an 😭
ОтветитьThis is a man who understood life, understood humanity, and understood God.
Pure heart, soul, and honesty.
I loove his music
ОтветитьNever underestimate the power of music....ever.
ОтветитьThank you for your music, John. God Bless you!
ОтветитьThis is John Denver's masterpiece. It brings me in my imaginings to a place filled with brilliant, high noon sunlight and high meadow vistas with snowcapped rugged mountains in the background. This place is as close to Heaven as I could visualize! I could be wrong, but think I heard John harmonizing with himself with multitracking. His voice was clear and pure. In my opinion, as an inspired composer and musician, John is in the same league with my favorite classical composers. I hope he is singing with the angels, and Heaven is infinitely more beautiful than the Rocky Mountains.
I hear the 7th stanza about the destruction of the Rocky Mountains' natural beauty and think of the following - I'm old enough to remember the lower Hudson valley area in New York being much different than it is today. My town used to be semi-rural and the business owners in town knew my parents by their first names. The seasons were beautiful. It is now superhighways flanked by strip malls, the friendly small towns either rotted away or become dirty and dangerous cities. Everything revolves around the car and life is expensive and drab for all but the wealthiest. Life here on Earth shouldn't have to be that way.
My dream.. double top where I left my Dad's spirit.. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьVisited Colorado for the first time in 2003. His music accompanied us! Love him still so much!
Ответить❤❤
ОтветитьGreat song still 2 this very day and love a lot of comments about it as well ❤❤😂😂😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤

ОтветитьOh the memories! Thank you John, RIP.
ОтветитьThe sky was the limit old hoss...wish you could have settled for the saddle longer. You are missed. John
ОтветитьI will fly over it. Destination Spain????,
ОтветитьIt’s quite strange, the older you get, the more tunes like this just get better and better. 👍🇬🇧.
ОтветитьHe was born in the summer of his 27th year
Coming home to a place he'd never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door
When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hanging by a song
But the string's already broken and he doesn't really care
It keeps changing fast and it don't last for long
But the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullaby
Rocky Mountain high (Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept the memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
Talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
While they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky Mountain high
Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)

Ответить' More scars upon the land '...I always loved that lyric
ОтветитьFinal Destination
ОтветитьSadly i think John killed himself.
A guy with a s#@t ton of money
He could have spent years reaping in the rewards ie: jet skiing in Barbados, living out of the best hotels in the world but life broke him!
Rip brother!
I'm moving to Colorado. I now love this song.
ОтветитьNo way around it. This is a brilliant, inspired, and perfectly crafted composition. Perfect union of music and text. Add to that the arrangement and voice and performance. Just beautiful.

ОтветитьThis reminds me of my favorite uncle, Vernie. I was feeling like a failure compared to the rest of my family. Telling this to my uncle he said, " Where are they right now ? " "Running that rat wheel in the city , so they can buy more to impress people they don't even like?" "And where are you?, " " Smoking a joint with your favorite uncle in the Quachita forest " " Whose the winner ? " Right you are uncle Vernie. Rest in Peace
