Mormon apostles were always the real opposition for Joseph. That's why they sold him out. If Mormons paid attention to doctrine, which they don't or they wouldn't be Mormons, the RLDS church is the true Mormon church. Brigham Young was a usurper.
ОтветитьGreat insight
ОтветитьSo- LDS here. This happened all the time in Joseph smiths writings. Prophacy and Promised blessings get phrased similarly. That was a Prophacy DEPENDANT on the saints keeping the commandments. And they definitely got a little rebellious. It wasn't a commandment, it wasn't a prophacy, it was an if/then blessing. Our entire church doctrine is themed around if/then blessings.
Also- important clarification- the 'enemies' who drove the saints out who will be punished, weren't just the people who actually kicked them out. It was also people in the congregation who weren't keeping the commandments who's actions led to them getting kicked out.
Last thing- apostles and prophets are both seers and revelators, but early apostles were chastised all the time for preaching interpretations of Joseph smiths and Brigham young, instead of word for word. That was a notorious issues for generations of the early church that's been documented pretty thoroughly.
Last thing- peter, james and john regularly misinterpreted what jesus said and needed to be corrected and in some cases chastised.
I'm not here to argue, and I genuinely like the channel and I'm definitely going to watch more of your back catalog. So take these rebuttals as you will, but these are pretty well accepted in the mainstream of dedicated church members.
Also "fairmormon" and "fairLDS" are pretty dissavowed by the church leadership. They tend to get a little in their own head about rebuttals.
I dont consider mormans Christian, but decent video
ОтветитьIt is the same false prophecy as the rest of the Millerite hersey. Joseph Smith, Ellen G White, the shakers....
Ответитьif you bring this up to any LDS member they will tell you God works in mysterious ways and to have faith. honestly, any religion would tell you the same.
ОтветитьIt should be obvious to all that Joseph Smith is prophesying in homage to Matthew 24:34:
"Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."
However, most Christian's today, I think wrongly, do not interpret this prediction as literal prophesy. They reinterpret "This generation" to mean the Jewish people as a whole, or they reinterpret it to mean all generations, or to to refer to 'this' generation as speaking of the generation living through the end times. None of these interpretations are merited by the text. Christians who reinterpret these words of Jesus are left with the fact that, in order to maintain exegetical consistency, they must either be similarly flexible with Joseph Smith's words here, or realize that Jesus was speaking, just as Smith was, of the generation living during his day.
Finding the contradictions and absurdities of others' religion is not hard. It's barely worth doing other than as a first step to finding same in your own.
