I've been doing crossfit for a month now (3X a week), and I must say it's been the only time in my life where I actually get stuff done. There's no chance to get distracted by your phone for 1 - 1.5 hours, you're around motivated people, hopefully you have a good coach who pushes you and corrects you if your form sucks. I'm far from being in shape (but am planning on getting in good shape within the next year), so i can't speak on behalf of serious athletes that plan on using CrossFit for life goals and to get fit for high-level competitive sports, but if you're just a regular inexperienced dude that seriously needs to start getting in SOMEWHAT of decent shape, i'd say this is an excellent way to do it.
Because let's be honest... 80% of people in regular gyms dick around, have improper form, spend way too much time on their phones and constantly give themselves excuses to "rest" and not push themselves. Basically, they watch a couple of YT vids and they don't know what they're doing. During CrossFit, you're only there for 1 - 2 hours, but you have no choice to actually push yourself and get.it.done.
Even if you're not doing the complicated exercises and adjusting them to your level of fitness and "staying in your own lane", it's STILL better than doing random machines in a regular gym without a plan, program and accountability... Just my 2 cents.
In addition, when I look at the major CrossFit athletes, it's pretty hard to argue that these people look terrible lol... they look better than swimmers, MMA fighters, and DEFINITELY better than power lifters lol
The funny thing about exercise "doctors" is everyone says "the science says this is the best way" - then they each say something different. Thats a special kind of science.

ОтветитьThe obvious take from this video is this is a fella who has done very little crossFIt. Using the crossFit games is a really bad example of crossfit training. I just started crossfit myself, and there are 3 things I see as bad.
1. It neglects muscles, a little too focused on legs, lower back, and shoulders
2. The competition and time aspect motivates folks to do stupid stuff and neglect form.
3. RX+, it’s dumb, it’s only purpose is to stroke egos and motivate folks into doing crossFit wrong. Cool , more weight but slower times. What’s the point. There you have it.

ОтветитьMy main gripe with crossfitters is how they equate 100+ reps and burn out as a good workout session. It feels good to get those numbers (I know, because I used to do some of their workouts), but being good at being fit and just getting reps aren't the same. Always go for quality over quantity, even if it means shorter training times. Your 60-year old joints and back will love you.

Back in 2013, my school’s head football coach was a strong advocate for crossfit and swore that it would turn every 14 year old into super athletes.. So we did the whole gimmick, I’m talking wall ball bullshit, burpees, weight circuits, and every bodies form was absolute horse shit. We ended the season with a losing record of like 3-8 or some shit, I forgot.
The crossfit cult is so brainwashed into thinking training complex lifts and bodyweight exercises till failure will make anyone into a god, when it leads to just CNS burn out and injury city.

ОтветитьPavel, just as a reference, took me from never having deadlifted as a tennis player from staring at 135lbs. to deadlifting 400lbs 'easily' many years ago. His principles are real. Power to The People. That was the book that I used. Changed how I think and exercise, you know kinda forever. Thanks Pavel!!!

The kind of Sheer amount of stress they put, if they put it everyday then it is absolutely degenerative on your joints tendons and over all nervous system and is absolutely not sustainable until and unless you are not taking EPD or some kind of anabolic substances
