Congratulations to Kevin Wiliams for winning the Knife Center Exclusive Swiss Army Pioneer. Keep your eyes peeled for the next KnifeCenter Giveaway.
ОтветитьAs much I like knives, I like your presentation. Thank you for clear and detailed job done.
ОтветитьAll good choices. Would personally skip the Midnight Champ as I prefer wearing a head torch if I need illumination instead of having an LED light attached to the knife. My personal favorite not mentioned here is the Huntsman model though.
ОтветитьSwiss ranger is the best in my opinion in-between the smaller and larger I love that one
ОтветитьI really love the field master. It has what I think are some of the best tools from these other knives combined.
ОтветитьI have a Wenger Apprentice that my dad gave me about 5 years ago, which was still new in package. I've always had his old boy scout knife from the 50s and a cheap Swiss army knife knock off. The Wenger definitely feels like much better quality even though the Apprentice is a much smaller knife. I guess the Cadet is almost exactly like the Apprentice, same tool set
ОтветитьThe very best Swiss Army Knives were those by Wenger, but unfortunately, they were discontinued.
ОтветитьThe pen is supposed to be clamped under the shoestring hook on the Compact, not the cork screw
Ответитьcomment tribute
ОтветитьI got a Swiss from Germany when little.
ОтветитьIf the Climber has a nail file instead of a small blade, it would be perfect.
ОтветитьI was hoping you tell me which model was the MacGyver model.😀
ОтветитьIs there a SAK with scissor and saw?
ОтветитьMy top 3
3-rambler
2-tinker
1-pioneer ✌️
I have Victorinox from 1983 (red plastic), and it's held up well, except the logo fell off the handle some years ago...
ОтветитьI never leave home without my Spartan. Includes a handy corkscrew, which is important because without it, you'd have to live on food and water.
ОтветитьThank you for the video.
Frankly, I see no point in buying any other Victorinox than the Swisschamp. No compromise.
Now it's the Wenger that's collector's item ... !
ОтветитьMy pal is [Farmer] aluminum red handle era. sawblade is very useful !
ОтветитьNice video, thank you. There is another model that I like. The Huntsman. It's a 4 layer knife and has the scissors as well as the wood saw. And the corkscrew of course. I like it for everyday use or for going to the forest making fire or camping. You can buy a leather case to put on your belt. The Huntsman exists in classic red color or military. Maybe some other colors.
ОтветитьCADET too sleek for me🔥
ОтветитьI prefer Craftsman
ОтветитьGreat video. Good job!
ОтветитьThough I always liked checking the Victorinox product portfolio, I actually never found a single multitool that I'd find useful t enough o buy and carry, not even their plier-based multitools. Their toolsets were always lacking too many features. Their awls lack the sewing hole, some relatively hopeful models lack a ruler, the pincer blades are never replaceable, the shape of the can opener and cap lifter is simply stupid and extremely uncomfortable. In short, Victorinox is nothing for me.
ОтветитьI carried a huntsman since my days in the scouts I only just replaced it recently with another Huntsman
ОтветитьNo Huntsman? This is crime
ОтветитьIf Wednesday Addams was real she should have gone for the black one because thats her signature color!
ОтветитьI have bought all kinds of knives, from Benchmades, Leathermans, Civivi's, CRKT's, Spyderco's, ZT's.....but for some reason I've never had the urge to get a Victorinox,. Love the show though 👍
Ответитьn I am a collector. And I have two of the small version. With a. Blade and a fingernail file. I have medium size. Where which is. Coded in. Plastic that. Shines in the dark. I have one of the big ones. that has 1 ohf everything. I have trouble getting replacement. Toothpicks. I searched a long time. And found one. With a scissors. fOr cutting paper.
ОтветитьHey, Swiss army knife shop. Told me. That. Victorianox had sold out. And a different company. Was making. The. Swiss army knives. Type now. Somebody tell me if this is true.
ОтветитьWhich one is the macgyver one ?
ОтветитьMy favorite is the Master Craftsman with the Space Shuttle metal inlayed on the front scale. It had just the features I wanted and knowing the model had been issued to the space shuttle astronauts was the cherry on top. I still have it, I still use it.
ОтветитьKeychain= manager pocket=compact 😎😎😎
ОтветитьSadly I have long thought Victorinox has been intentionally stubborn in adapting convenient and ergonomic features. When they finally got around to doing one handed opening they made it as a liner lock which requires right handed users to use two hands or press the blade against something to close. JUST MAKE THE LINER LOCK SWEEP THE OTHER DIRECTION!
Also good luck finding a pocket clip on a knife. That one handed trekker would be PERFECT with a pocket clip but noooooo, heaven forbid the thing be convenient to carry. Instead it is a lump flopping around in a pocket.
The best part is I actually love Switzerland! I have been going there for work at least once a year for over twenty years. Their knife design though it perpetually locked in the < 1980s.
I've been carrying a Hiker every day for the last 20 or so years . The saw blade is bent and the handle chipped . Most used tool is the toothpick .
ОтветитьI’ve still got my camper from when I was on holiday with mam n dad in Switzerland. We drove from England to tour Europe in 1980. 43 year old now & never faulted. Still got the tweezers & toothpick. Love them. 👍🏆
ОтветитьWould be great to compare Victorinox Multi tool to a Leatherman
ОтветитьMidnight Mini Champ. That was my nickname in college!
ОтветитьIf you like whittling the hiker is ideal. It has a short and long blade as well as a saw but is still comfortable to hold with only 3 layers. IMO it should be on this list.
ОтветитьOver the years have had many, the field master being a strong favorite but have to go with the Harvester, a Pioneer with a pruner / hawk bill blade for piercing and draw cuts. Discontinued but brought back as the Swiss Army 7. Only wish there was a model that had the pruner, saw and scissors.
ОтветитьThe classic model scissors ALWAYS have the spring break after a few uses. It makes the scissors almost useless.
ОтветитьThe silver pioneer was the one we got when we got drafted. I still have it. Fun thing is they all had the year in it when you got it. I still have all for the years i was in. 85 to 91. Great knives but carefull for the sharp non n
Locking blade
My Pioneer was red when I got it two wives ago, but the color is gone except for in the groves.

ОтветитьAgree 101+% on picks have several wenger knives & now know the story behind them TY
ОтветитьI adore the scissors and the tweezers!
ОтветитьInstead of the Spartan, I prefer a Climber as my bare minimum Swiss Army knife. The Climber is basically a Spartan with scissors.
Ответитьused for a version that was targeted for computer users. It had a tray of sockets that could interchange on a shaft but AFAIK it was discontinued shortly after. I would LOVE to get one now
ОтветитьAs a European, I will never buy a leatherman. I am with Victorinox all the way. Best multitools, folding knives and made from high quality materials! My choice is the SAK Handyman!
ОтветитьI am a knife obsessive and have about six or seven SAKs that I draw upon. I carry the same model the presenter carries daily, and I have found the Army issue with the full serrated blade to be exceptionally useful around the house as well as for camping. Extreme example: Cutting and deboning a chicken I was stymied by something. Maybe my ignorance of chicken anatomy. The poultry shears didn't cut it but the army issue knife made short work. Also, I have the single-blade gardener's pruning knife, a beautiful thing. I use it every day to open mail and cut up envelopes for shopping lists and other bits. I am extremely loyal to several marques: Patagonia, which needs no introduction; Tretorn, the inventor of the modern 'tennis shoe' and a source of outstanding casual footwear, and Victorinox/ Wenger. Life is good.
