Sofia is a very charming city with many lovely sights and fine food. Everyone I met there, whether walking tour guides, shopkeepers, restaurant staff, etc were all friendly and welcoming. I was there the very end of September and had perfect weather, making Vitosha Blvd a joy. If you are an opera buff like me then go to the home/museum of the great bass Boris Christoff, only 3 blocks off Vitosha.I hope to return some day.

what was the point of getting the shitties possible airbnb you could find and claiming that it's the best sofia has to offer when you know damn well that there are enough ignorant people who will believe you? i don't think your sarcasm is obvious to most people. and who tf goes on vacation to bulgaria in the winter??? unless you're staying at a ski resort... otherwise, this is terrible planning. go visit the seaside in the summer. even if you're not big on tourist areas, there are plenty of beautiful non-touristy sea towns.

I like Bulgarian and Bulgarian people althought l've never been there. People are nice and most of them educated. I see very positive many bulgarians speak english, especially the young ones not because english is an important language but because it means people are eager to carry on and have a better future. In time Bulgaria will be a more developed nation.

Elliot. Sofia was essentially half destroyed in ww2.Thanks to Churchill. He said he wanted to turn Sofia into a potatoe field. Basically he was taking it out on bulgarian civilians for getting his ass whopped at Gallipoli 30 years earlier. Sofia and Bulgaria are disgustingly ugly and depressing in winter. This is the worst time to visit the country. In summer, everything looks much more beautiful, cleaner, more European and more alive.

i lived in sofia for almost a year in 1993... .. many places looks still the same and familiar....
