17 things I wish I knew BEFORE visiting VIETNAM in 2024

Hi, just saw your video - super great and so good to know before going! I just want to say that the visa screen shot you show, isn´t all the way correct, because in Denmark you don´t need a visa unless you are staying in Vietnam for more than 45 days. Just wanted to point out, so everyone check up on it and dont necessarily "just" use that one screen shot:)

I hate it when western tourists bargain with locals. Don’t do it. The difference of money means nothing for you but a world for them. And when you eat out, leave a tip.

For the Transportation problem, if u Directly book a BUS in Viet Nam, u can chose the best time to come and go. Cuz the Night tour will always cheaper than the Day Tour, so if u book it online, they will give u the cheap one :))).
The only thing you need is to BOOK a HOTEL in Viet Nam, and then, if u need something, ask the Hotel Manager, they will help you.
It's not necessary to reserve every thing before u come, just make a Plan first, book a Hotel and ask the Hotel Manager for help, or go to the coffee shop, find someone who young or someone with a Laptop, talk to them, 99% they willing to help you.

I was thinking about the comment on Ho Chi Minh and I find it quite fascinating that a lot of westerners come to SEA and expect rice fields huts lol. Why are you surprised that in 21st century there is a city. That’s on you. Do your research and don’t be that guy who says Vietnam is not quite what you thought it is because there are skyscrapers 😅 The media always is biased and paints in stereotypical way that everyone is in the field with a hat 😐

Vietnam is visa free now for 45 days

You need to have immediate access to at least $10,000 usd or have health/accident insurance that will cover you in Vietnam. That is insurance payments that can be immediately paid by a card world-wide. If you are in an accident and need hospitalization or emergency care, the hospital will not do much more than receive you until payment is made. Same for suregery-you need to pay a down payment first which can be up to 60 million VND or about 2.5 thousand USD. Before emergency care is provided. Vietnam is a dangerous place to travel in and this is one point most travellers/tourists ignore. I know this because I am an American living and working in Vietnam for 22 years now.

I am an entire 3% Vietnamese, did not know till I did DNA test, always thought my Asian heritage was full Southern Chinese. As a westerner, the consumption of dog meat in any country will keep me from visiting there though. Hopefully that tradition can change.

2 questions, are there tours for where the war was? Next, are the women there like American Men during nightlife?

Thanks this was helpful. I'm going to Vietnam next year around March staying in the south @ Ho Chi Min City as I do not like the cold. I was in South Korea last year which is similarly limited in English speaking and I got around fine there.

I'm gonna be honest Ha Long Bay was beautiful, but extreme tourist trap, no freedom forced to participate in activities and go to certain touristy beaches and coves, you're stuck on their cruise where prices are hiked up. In the end I felt bad because it's just a ton of cruise ships dumping waste and trash into that beautiful area.

Give us tips for us foreigners to go to America.
