20+ Tips and Tricks for Mario Kart World

I like to have Auto-Accelerate on too, particularly for being able to turn the camera.

I like this channel but this really was just a Mario Kart basic Tutorial, no tricks or tips at all for someone who's spent 1-2h in the game.

I believe the Ghost power up also defends against the blue shell. Going invis just before you get hit by the blue shell saved me during a race.

When grinding on a rail if you don't want to go left or right, you can press up [or forward] on the joystick and you can jump forward. This is handy for P Switch Challenges when there are enemies coming towards you, you can just jump over them with good timing. It's not always safe or quicker to move off the rail your on, jump over the enemy and stay where you are.

The only tip and tricks you need is pulling gold mushrooms

Food items doesn't get destroyed by the blue shell
You can use food to get speed

Lighter character has better handling
Then you get hit by cars, bus, truck, items, its like you get up faster

No 3 lap GP mode, empty open World, excessive AI banding and overpriced, hard pass! 👎

Small correction, you can aim bananas, what you need to do is move the camera and hold forward with the left joystick

Tip for Knockout Tour, especially online: when nearing the knockout checkpoints, get to the left or right side of the road. The center is where all the racers using their bullet bills, mega mushrooms, and magic stars will come barreling down at the last second trying to stay in the race.

Finally some good tips. I totally thought that ground tricking on straightaways was helpful.

What button is rewind?

What Switch 1 games should I buy? I only have MK World.

Edit: I meant Switch exclusive games. Not multiplatform cause I have a PS5.

If you camp the Bullet Bill it will break the Blue Shell as well.

So tricking while grinding is faster but is grinding standard also faster then driving? Just mean the speed not the short corner.

The feather can jump over incoming red shells

You can dodge a red koopa with a feather. Might’ve been carried over from 8 Deluxe battle mode, but I didn’t know it and it was sick the one time I did it.

Half these tips are for someone who’s never played Mario Kart. I feel like if you’re dropping 500 bucks on MK, you’ve played it before

When in free roam you can find vending machines that dispenses count as yoshis snack food
There are 3 different varieties you can get and they unlock different costumes

On certain courses with highways there are cars that function similarly to vending machines that drop bananas as hazards, boost foods, and occasionally even star power ups which you can collect even in first place where you mostly just find green shells and coins

Similar to mushrooms but more reliably on certain tracks while in first, the food boosts also come in handy for shortcuts, fast recoveries, and dodging blue shells

If you're having diffulty timing the 2 for the starting boost, press and hold acceleration about a second after the 2nd light lights up

If you're having problems in solo mode in Knockout Tour etc. You can make the game easier by not drifting. The opponents AIs will adjust accordingly in a sort of reverse rubberbanding. Whereas if you drift for boosts the AI will start doing it a lot as well

Thank you for the tips, I haven’t played Mario Kart since the N64 version and I got the NS2 at the midnight launch.
Absolutely phenomenal system and fun game.

Agree about slipstreaming, surprised not many people mention it because it seems really strong in this game. Saved my skin quite a few times in knockout tour when I was gonna lost but passed 2 or 3 players by just staying right behing someone. Alternatively, look behind you quite often to prevent players from slipstreaming you at the worst moment.

In case anyone isn't aware, you can defend against red & green shells with the boomerang. If you know ones about to hit you, aim the boomerang towards it.

Most of these tips I've already naturally picked over the course of my experience playing this series, particularly with 8D and this game, but then there are a few that I genuinely didn't know about and are handy as hell, like adjusting the right analog stick to aim with your items and using a mushroom to dodge the flying blue shell. 😀👍

Even though I know how to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe very well, I was surprised to see how different Mario Kart World is. These are tips that I didn't imagine. Very good.

What Switch exclusive games should I buy? I skipped Switch 1 & just bought a Switch 2!

You forgot another perk to the ghost 👻 item—it also allows you to drive off road (take shortcuts) without slowing down

I personally use the lights to time the boost at the start of the race, since it doesn't fade in. Also mushrooms aren't the only items that can dodge blue shells, I dodged one with a mega mushroom.

In Time Trial, scroll the list of ghosts down and you‘ll find your Switch Online friends‘ ghosts (If they‘ve uploaded a time on that particular track).

"Hold down the right analog trigger" There is no analog triggers on the Switch 2 (or Switch 1)

Ha, hold the right ANALOG trigger? We don’t have such nice things with Switch 😉.
