Wow... You made this sound like a rocket science. I have been printing bins and baseplates for few weeks now with my Ender 3 S1 Pro. Five different filaments (most of them sub 16e/kg) and zero problems whatsoever. And people say that Creality printers are pain in the a**...

Do you have any projects that use the brass inserts? I bought some inserts, but now have no idea of a project that needs them.

Stringing isn't a problem at higher temperatures if you use combing and wiping.

in your video you speak about a video where you create your own caliper box - was that a mistake because I cannot find this video on your channel.

I know I'm late to the party, but remember that it should be pronounced more like S-CAD. The developers have asked that people not pronounce it in a way that makes it sound like poo.

As a female coder and maker, can I request that we stop the "funny" stereotyping of women/wives as ol'-ball-and-chain, anti-creative, bitchy nags? It's as stale as the Honeymooners and yet it's in almost every video in this genre, including Zack's.

It's honestly hurtful and just serves to make me feel out of place in the 3D maker community.

(Why hurtful? It's depressing that smart guys like you never pair up with equally nerdy, interesting, complex women. Creativity, wit, and intellectual prowess is only attractive in men. It seems like you're selecting your mates on other criteria when you talk about them staying out of the printing room and yelling at you about wasting money on filament.)

I would like to see how much luck you have with a FLSUN super racer with a .8 nozzle... It was a nightmare when I attempted it and I think you are probably far superior of a maker than I am.

This is actually a fairly good into to Gridfinity. Something I will definitely spend some time on when I finally get my 3D printer. Also, you are much easier to follow than Zack.

Two topics I would like to see is one on getting started and one on your workflow.

Not sure 1000 brains are better than 1... They say great minds think alike. They also say beware of idiots in large groups! ;-) :-p

Throwing it out there but a noob level tutorial in Fusion 360 or other CAD tool on how to make your own gridfinity boxes as a more detailed version of Tip 2 would be a great entry point for folks into CAD.

I’m sorry you suffer from OCD. It can be crippling. Hopefully you are able to find meds or other means to work through it.

I need a hydroponics group to get files, I can't find much source of files for pipes (elbows, tees, hose adapter and etc. : )

Here is a tip for making bins, The parametric source file as linked in the Baseplate repository also contains empty bins without the label tab.

im running 220 on general speed, 230 on Sport, 15% infill, 2 layer top and bottom, 0.4mm nozzel with a bambu X1C with PEI bed
Yes for new sizes, print 1 and test befoe pring a while tray of bins

I support Alex, but now he is remodeling his bathroom, I supported him for 3d. I paid for the rights to use his designs and have printed some models, but I am moving to the open source, makes absolute sense!

I have to be careful not to think everything is a nail now that I have a hammer.
I'm trying to filter my ideas by thinking what is really something that I can't get any other way.

I was just thinking the other day how nice it was that the junk drawer has these little plastic containers to keep things a bit more organized but they don't use up all the space so they slide and rattle around.
Some items are too big and just awkwardly lie on top or stick out at weird angles.

If I can easily customize the grid size this is amazing.


Custom made items and replacement parts are the biggest use cases IMHO.
Even better if you can make something completely new.
Last place is tools or junk that you could get anywhere but you think you are being cool by printing it even though it's cheaper, faster, and better quality at the store down the street.
But If the store is closed then it was worth it.

Every time you say you're not a real maker I hang my head in shame, each time a little lower. Now my head is on my desk and I'm crying in my failure.

Don't stop printing and YouTubing

First i wanted to print some boxes that suit my needs then i saw the project. Omg someone stole my idea.....to print boxes. Now someone "stole" the stolen idea to..... print boxes.
Still i design my own because its so easy to do from scratch.

Thank you for your content. This will help me to get on with gridfinity. Zack Freedman made me want this, you got me a lot closer to actually print some of this myself. Another subscriber to you 🙂 btw I bought the plans from Alexandre Chappel more than two years ago - and I agree with you - open source communities is just so much faster and stronger.

I gave up on colorizing any of this. It would require me to do too much planning and purchase too many different colors. I just print what I have for what I need and mix up the colors as I go. The colors I get is what I learn as I use my tools and supplies.

I guess I am just not very good at dialing it in but I use a skirt because I get curling. It's easy to take it off. Just grab a nice sharp spatula and run it along the bottom edges. It shaves down nice and smooth quick and easy.
