Imo one of the best father figures in animation was Arthur's dad due to one quote sticking to me when Arthur was always scared his dad might be hurt really bad at his job since he had PTSD when he was rescued in the school fire, Arthur at one point accidentally let it out how worried he was and his dad told him "It's my job to worry about you Arthur, not the other way around." That's a real dad to me😢

Your story about your wedding is so inspiring. I graduated high school about a year ago and finally found the girl who means the world to me but I have a dead end warehouse job, I can barely afford to fill my gas tank, and not currently attending any form of higher education (but hopefully soon) to be honest I haven’t been very happy lately and I worry about it affecting my relationship, but listening to your hardships in life really made my day. Thank you for making this video and giving me the drive to push through life with my head held high.

Well, it is worth noting that, outside of the meta reasons, most of the alternate future questions can be answered by laws of paradox avoidance. Both the lab and jimmy's room are jimmy's spaces, and as such he is going to have more say in how they were designed. Equally, Jimmy could exist for much the same reason as your personal account: he existed or at least wasnt beyond reasonable expectations at the time he traveled back to, meaning rich or not they couldnt just "unbake the bread". The house was the same "small" one simply because of how it would affect jimmy to move out of the space. From there, we get into causal implications. We see no alternate jimmy in any of the explored timelines, meaning we can infer the rules of time travel for the universe dictate only one copy of a person can exist in a timeline at a time. Because jimmy had to exist to give young hugh the tip, jimmy had to exist in the new future he created lest a grandfather paradox would occur. because the tip came from time travel, that creates a causal loop where the time traveler would return to the new future, and therefore must have a place within it, even if that future should have created someone of an entirely different personality. Fixing the meddling would by the same logic simply require traveling back to the exact point he initially arrived, then leave immediately without interacting with his young parents, preventing his past self from showing up due to single existence implications and no "recreational activities" required. Might still be easier to blame it all on those activities, but the alternate future can also be explained by the blinding of wealth and the jerks it turned them into. "it was my money, my decision, and my merits that made me rich; not a tip i could have chosen to ignore if i so chose."

But we all know the real answer is the meta context: too expensive to make an entirely new house made up of many different rooms for a single episode with an early 3D animation budget that was only allowed by making the movie first.

Actually I think Mr. Neutron has tried to help Jimmy with his homework a few times to hilarious results of course.

Seriously what father is perfect lol.

I feel even if he did realize that his parents don’t know him Jimmy would still barge in. We have to move the plot along after all. I always thought that this was in fact the reason why he just walked in. The writers couldn’t come up with a way for Jimmy to organically meet his parents. So instead they just went with the normal response a child would have seeing their parents in a room and wanted to speak to them. They just barge in like they own the room.

I mostly like this video. I like the message and positivity. But I have to be honest and levy some criticism: the episode is not that deep. This video should have been twenty minutes shorter. You read way too much into stuff that could simply be chalked up to cartoon logic. Sorry, I don't want to be mean because i really do like that you're highlighting a positive cartoon dad but this video goes into over-analyzing

Great analysis of Hugh Neutron.

If I may, I feel the need to actually shift focus to Jimmy for a second. Since he’s a boy genius, a lot of people nowadays have high expectations for his overall character. Whenever he makes mistakes, people expect him to know better, being a genius and all. What everyone seems to ignore or overlook is that, at the end of the day, he’s a BOY genius; heavy emphasis on the “Boy” part. He may be a master of math and science, but when it comes to things like creative arts, social situations, or fully-developed adult-level common sense, he falls short almost every time, which I think is great. It keeps him relatable to kids who are also making mistakes and learning life lessons as they go along. Jimmy still exhibits child-like tendencies; he also just happens to be a gifted engineer and scientist.

Basically, all I’m saying is that we need to remember that Jimmy is still only 11-years-old and cut him some slack, despite being a genius. He uses science to make up for his many shortcomings, which is a fantasy for a lot of kids who feel powerless at times, similar to Timmy Turner and his fairies.

I mean, he didn’t put two and two together concerning whether his parents would know he exists or not when he went back in time. That is a context clue of where his common sense actually is, and not where it should be as a genius. He has above average intelligence in SOME areas, not ALL areas.

I think that regarding Jimmy being "manipulative", he's an intellectual genius. Regular intelligence and emotional intelligence are two very different things. Although Hugh can't teach his son any science or math that he doesn't already know, he makes up for it by teaching Jimmy the valuable life lessons and helps him develop emotional intelligence to better connect with himself and those around him.

Thinking back to that, that was probably one of the driving forces as to why I really hated fairly odd parents. Not that it wasn't funny at times, but timmys parents would piss me off so much that I just didn't wanna watch the show. The fact that His parents being happily oblivious to the fact they neglect there son would infuriate me. Timmy's dad would kill Timmy if it meant he got back at dinkleberg. Jimmy's dad would lift Jimmy up even when he was at his worst. Jimmy is running around destroying the city as a great value version of the hulk, and his dad's first reaction is to be like "damnnnnn, you been lifting the freeway son?"

It might actually be even more significant, that Hugh is not the sharpest tool in the shed intellectually. It shows Jimmy, that intelligence comes in a lot of difference ways and that even hen people arent academically on his level they do have a lot of wisdom to go around.
