Wait why am I watching this if u didn’t even go to med school with ur degree. From what I see, most people that are in med school or residency were bio or hard science majors. That seems like the safest route to go

Philosophy with a concentration is medical ethics is more important I believe; with probably a mathematics minor and your pre-reqs. Medicine isn't just biochemical compounds and procedures, it's a philosophy and way of life. Most kids do the mad scramble to medical school because they have no intrinsic wisdom before even entering arguably the most important field for sustaining humanity and society. So many selfies taken at such a young age and with no little knowledge of Self does not a competent or true doctor make. I am speaking from the perspective of a disabled military veteran whom the healthcare industry destroyed with their inability to understand concepts beyond their scope of pre-digested and regurgitated information. I have met doctors with absolutely no critical thinking skills or higher powers of reasoning and no passion for research. Actually learn how to think first before you're taught what to think, kiddos. I myself am majoring in philosophy with every intention of probably pursuing naturopathic medicine in the states which are licensing, such as Arizona, Oregon, Washington, etc., as I managed to effectively diagnose, treat and subsequently cure myself of an autoimmune disease which no "doctor" could figure out for years using naturopathic medicine, specifically herbal remedies and a clean 90% vegan diet. Most illness comes from improper nutrition and the "healthcare" industry is largely a scam. Many "doctors" are just mascots for big pharma. I know this one P.O.S who actually told me he went to medical school, not because he cares about helping anyone, but because it pays well and he wants to be rich. Be careful of those you trust to treat your health. They may have no grasp of ethics or any intrinsic morality.

Actually this video works out well for student that are just trying to get a high mcat score and get into a med school but in reality they are lazy to put effort towards hard courses and they just want a short way!
I was a bio major who took almost any bio courses that was connected to human for undergrad, virology, micro, immunology I AND II, cell physiology, pharmacology I and II, endocrinology, neurobiology, genetic...... my mcat ended up being a 508, since I did extremely bad on CARS and PS, I took only one psychology in my entire undergrad that's it! My buddy who was ecosystem major took only the prerequisites for med school, the rest, I'm sorry but bullshit courses, he ended up getting 513 because of 90% on his CARS! believe it or not we ended up getting accepted into our state med school and let me just tell ya, my hard work paid off beginning of the second month, him struggling and not being familiar with anything, while I was just studying normal being familiar with some materials that only bio majors had access to them! by that being said, yes, you can just get a jump on your mcat even if you are not familiar with real human physiology or anatomy because of PS and CARS, but trust me MCAT has nothing to do with med school except the BB section! the only thing that makes you to have advantage than others is your undergrad courses which in fact might help you for your first step too! everyone can get into a med school one day (I mean worst case scenario is Caribbean) but not everyone can finish and do well on step1,2, you gotta love bio before being a good doctor and this is a fact!

Anatomy and physiology and pathology are not pre med majors and sometimes a person's degree path will be so ridged they cannot fit the premed sciences into it. Biology, neurology, chemistry and psychology continue to be the majors where you can efficiently fit in your premedical prerequisites. Also, consider majoring in biology.

Ive been wanting to be a dermatologist for a very long time, since highschool, and im going into my 3rd year in university and actually fell in love with Microbio (such as being a lab technician). So i changed the bio major into Microbiology (I actually already took my pre-reqs for med schools, so I was debating alot). I think finding something your passionate about will be good as well.

I believe Dietetics is a great all round premed for the following reasons:

1. Great science exposure, eg. modules such as physiology, medical bioscience, biochem, chem, pharmacology, nutrition, epidemiology, stats, etc.
2. Clinical experience, dietitians work in almost every single ward, similar to but not as widespread as nurses. So it gives the premed student a great sense of all the different areas in a hospital.
3. If you discover healthcare/medicine/clinical setting is not for you, you can go into sooo many different directions with a dietetics and nutrition degree, from animal nutrition to becoming an author or product developer, private practice, food magazine journalist, product reviewer, and so many different things.
4. A premed in dietetics also prepares you for the health/lifestyle struggles you'll face in med school, knowing what to eat and what nutrients your body needs for intense exams and rotations, what energises your brain to take better care of your patients, how to excel better in med school and all the other benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
5. You will also be one in a very small handful of doctors with great nutrition experience which is a tremendously useful skillset eg. if you're a surgeon for patient healing, general doctor discussing lifestyle changes with patients, etc.

as a med student, i disagree. if youre planning on becoming a doctor or go into healthcare, money shouldn’t be your priority. If it is, you will never be able to succeed, as it takes a lot of integrity and passion to commit that much time and money to become one. Med schools dont look at your major as long as you completed all your pre reqs, have a good & improving gpa, good mcat score and a lot of potential/interest they will probably give you a shot. If youre in it for the money you will never make it lol doctors barely get paid until theyre done with residency

You literally just saved my 2 years of undergrad. I transferred over to a university and I’m taking HSA only because of this as it was Soo helpful. My uni requires us to do 150 hours of internship in order to get our BS which will Ofcourse help me right after my undergrad so it’s a win win as a premed. Thank you please don’t making such helpful videos 🙂
