Can you compare QNAP qsw-2104-2s and Mikrotik CRS310-8G+2S+IN ? Thank you so much.
ОтветитьIs there anything with more than 8 ports? Let's say 16+? The closest I found was the KeepLink 48-Port Multi-Gigabit 2.5G Ethernet Managed Switch with 4 SFP+ Ports 2 40G QSFP+
Ответитьhello Patrick I need to upgrade my installation at home and as I really don't know much about computers, your channel is a real joy to understand and perhaps make the right choice of equipment. THANKS. I have just discovered the FastCabling brand. they offer essential elements for connecting your personal network to fiber at attractive prices it seems to me. If you had a little time to give your opinion. THANKS. Fred.
ОтветитьI love your presentations, but you should think about amping up the energy a little bit, you seem rather sedentary at times.
ОтветитьHow do you test throughput? I'd like to test out my Vimin VM-250402
ОтветитьThank you for your service Sir. I felt alone before stumbling on this video.
Ответитьdo i have to use the 10gb sfp+ as uplinks or can i also use one of them to pass the 10gbit through to my main pc?
ОтветитьRight now in Amazon Spain, there is a Tenda TEM2010F for only 93€
-All ports are 2.5GbE, 8 Ethernet and 2 SFP
-support for VLAN and static agregation to get up to two 5Gbps conections
-50gpbs capacitiy and without fans
Found this video after buying my second 2.5G switch, I've chosen TENDA TEM2010F 8-port 2.5Gb/s 2x SFP this time around. Can't find any solid reviews tho, but it was cheaper than my QNAP QSW-1105-5T, and it has 3 extra ports and two SFPs on top of that. Anyone ever heard about this brand? I'm still waiting for my package to arrive.
ОтветитьAnybody figure out which Optical transceivers coding works for the Hasivo switched?
ОтветитьGreat video! Curious about the Hasivo & Moberlink and LACP.
Do they support VLAG or stacking, so two can be combined and a device plugged in to each will still have aggregation?
Does any one of them allow link aggregation?
And if allowed, how many ports can be used for link agregation?
now wouldn't it be nice if you actually reviewed those switches what's the packets per second those switches can cope with port speeds are worthless if you can't get the packets through when all ports are used ... you can have a 100gig port but you can't forward the packets fast enough that's not a very good switch is it now ?
ОтветитьSaw today the Vimin VM-250402 for 70$ with 4x2.5Gb and 2 SFP+ 10g, 60 Gbps switching capacity declared. Maybe it deserves a place in this "Switch Guide"
ОтветитьWhat is the fastest Wifi AP you ever tested?
Ответитьhe was so excited to tell about the switches that his nip*les became hard 😂
ОтветитьComplete nightmare. I bought the Hasivo S600W-5GT-2S. It took 2 months to arrive, got stuck in customs (Aliexpress is meant to include customs fess in their checkout for EU customers), they posted the wrong power supply that didn't fit the switch, and I couldn't get the DAC cable to work on the 10GB SFP+ uplinks. 240€ down the drain. Will be sticking to known vendors in the future.
ОтветитьThe true question is - what is it you are smoking and where I can get some?
ОтветитьOk, I'm an old guy and pretty close to the dullest tool in the shed when it comes to this switch stuff.
Here's my situation, and I'd appreciate some information on what to do.
Recently I upgraded my internet to fiber 2 gigs, and I'd like to hard-wire the output of the modem/router to 3 other devices the rest can be via WI-FI.
I have a Mac Studio with a 10 gig port, a Window PC with a 2.5 gig port, and a Netgear 6E router with a 2.5 gig port (like I said, the rest of the household goodies can get the WI-FI from the router).
So correct me if I'm wrong, let's say I buy the QNAP QSW-1105-5T. Do I simply plug the modem/router from ISP into port 1, the Mac into port 2, Windows PC into port 3, and Netgear 6E router into port 4???
Or do I need a switch that is has all 10 gig ports.
One more thing, NO AliExpress and I don't need POE.
I'd love to see a review of TP-link TL-R5408PE-AC which is apparently a China-only router with 4 2.5G and 4 FE ports, POE af\at, 110w total budget, up to 30w per port, looks like a built-in omada controller (not sure, they just say "controller" and curiously do not mention Omada at all), fanless, and about 200 USD price.
Wonder if it is really workable (people say you can use the Chinese-only interface via a translator like google translate), if there are any other pitfalls, cause it's really hard to find both 2.5G and POE in one box, with a decent power budget, and here it seems it's also a router\controller (whether it is omada-compatible is an open question though).
I just ordered my mokerlink 9 port switch , will let you know how it goes:)
ОтветитьWhy does NOBODY make a 16 port 2.5gbe rack mount switch??? OOPS TP-Link TL-SH1832
ОтветитьBased on this video, I decided to purchase the Hasivo S1100-8GT and it has been working flawlessly for my needs. One thing that I have been having problems with is finding a good 2.5 Gb PCIe network card that 'just works'. I purchased several TP_-Link TX201 cards that said they 'work with Linux' but going to their website shows that they only support the Kernel "up to 5.17". It will be used in a backup NFS server running TrusNAS Scale.
ОтветитьCan you trust the Hasivo to not have any spyware?
ОтветитьI like it, as long as it is a managed switch.
ОтветитьDo any of these support 801.1Q Priority Flow Control?
Ответитьplease make a good dinner for the one handing you the devices
ОтветитьSorry, im a network nube, but are no name managed switches safe? We hear a lot of concerns of routers coming non-friendly countries. Are managed switched another attack vector.
ОтветитьHi, nice video, thanks. This hasivo unit, I can see some complains in Aliexpress saying that you can't change the management IP? Can you confirm that?
ОтветитьThank you for finding me the perfect switch for my current setup, it will fit in nicely between my preexisting 10 & 2.5Gbps networks. I am of course talking about the Hasivo S1100P-8GT PoE+ and it is on its way to me already, cheers!
ОтветитьI don't get the point of the new 2.5 and 5 GBit standards.. the cards are more expensive than the well-established 10G cards, the switches cost roughly the same.. why would anyone buy 2.5G if he could get 10G for the same total cost? And I don't even talk about the tons of used 10G cards out of server leasing you can get on ebay for 10-20$..
ОтветитьThe use of mGig is still iffy for now for things shipping with them, as others are saying, I'm really more interested in 10/25gbe tech at home for a desk or tucked in my media shelves. I still use a little juniper ex2200-12 on my desk for my laptop and desktop that is really more of a vm server now, and a dell n1108 for my media, rest is now all 10g to my servers/storage. I can't really find anything like even the 8 port 10g mikrotik only with copper, but leaning that way with some copper base-t sfp+'s. I am watching ebay for a netgear m4300 for the 8-16 port models patiently to be resold at a reasonable price!
ОтветитьI was wondering are the invisible switch donating black hands owned by Mrs ServeTheHome???
ОтветитьWould not use anything QNAP until they get their act together with their security. It has been horrendous and negligent with their NAS products so far so we shouldn’t expect anything but that from their switches too.
ОтветитьNo reliability testing? Issues with dropped or discarded frames at varying link speeds? Proper RX/TX flow control? Support of pass-through tagged Ethernet frames (tagged VLANs)? Temperatures? Come on man. It's not just about power draw.
ОтветитьThe rewinding Video intro is very annoying. 😢
ОтветитьWould have been nice if you had put the model numbers up on the screen again at the end when making your picks.
ОтветитьIs there a place to download new firmware and manual for Hasivo S1100P-8GT PoE+? I cannot find it searching Google.
ОтветитьJust have had a look through your video list and I can't find any video where you showcase 2.5GbE ethernet cards.
ОтветитьThank you very much Patrick, very ilustrative. I think you also have to check this one QNAP QSW-2104-2T-A-US. Also it`s cheaper than the Trendnet. What do you think?
ОтветитьAny chance you’re going to review the TP Link TL-ST5008F 8 port 10G managed SFP+ from Ali? Costs around 200€. GUI is in Chinese but read somewhere you can change it in English in the browser settings. CLI is English.
ОтветитьThe big question is what is the backbone of the switches why not ask about that
do they only have 2,5GB backbone divided by the ports
Great comparison, thank you for your suggestions!
ОтветитьAll these switches being over $100 just shows how overpriced things are. There shouldn't really be a reason any of these 5 port switches cost over $50.
Ответитьare there any 24 port 2.5gbe switches? when are those coming out?
You also mentioned in the video for 2.5gbe there were some cases where you could jump straight to 10gbe for just a little extra. maybe you can cover this in one of your future videos comparing 2.5gbe vs 10gbe options for 24 port? or at least more than 5-8 port range if possible.
Was the consumption measured AC from the wall or DC in the machine, could the differences come from wall wart ineffiency?
ОтветитьAs someone knowledgeable about network switches, could you recommend a PoE++ router and switch combination suitable for operating 4 cameras streaming 4K video over NDI? It seems challenging to find clear information on this topic online.
ОтветитьWow, just 12 days later and prices have changed a lot!
QNAP QSW-1105--5T Was $110. Now it is $139 as lowest price! Why?
TRENDnet 5-port TEG-S350 was $135 for you, now it is $98! That's a good price!
