„ Herr Bojangles „
Ich kannte einen Mann, Bojangles, und
Er würde für dich tanzen
In abgetragenen Schuhen, mit silbernen Haaren,
einem zerlumpten Hemd und weiten Hosen
Er würde „Der alte weiche Schuh“ machen
Er konnte so hoch springen
Spring so hoch
Und dann würde er sanft aufsetzen
_________________
Vom Leben gesprochen, mmm
Herr, er hat vom Leben gesprochen, waha
_________________

Bitte, Bojangles
Hmmmm, tanzen
Wieder Bojangles

„ Mr. Bojangles „
I knew a man, Bojangles, and
He'd dance for you
In worn out shoes, with silver hair, a ragged shirt and baggy pants
He would do 'The old soft shoe'
He could jump so high
Jump so high
And then he'd lightly, touch down
_________________
I met him in a cell in New Orleans I was
While I was down and out
He looked to me to be the very eyes of age
As he spoke right out
Talked of life, mmm
Lord he talked of life, whaha
_________________
Laughed, slapped his leg and stepped
He said his name was "Bojangles"
And he danced a lick right across the cell
He grabbed his pants, took a better stance,
jumped up high
That's when he clicked his heels
_________________
Then he let go a laugh
Lord he let go a laugh, shook back his clothes all aroud
That was Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles

Lord, he could dance
He told me of the times he worked in Minstrel shows,
travelling around the South
He spoke with tears of fifteen years how his dog and he
They just travel all about
But his dog up and died
Dog up and died

And after twenty years he still grieved
He said "I dance now and every chance a Honky-Tonk,
for my drinks and tips"
"For my drinks and tips"
But most of the time I spend behind these county bars
"You see son, I drinks a bit"
Then he his head
Lord, when he shis head
I could swear I heard someone say: "Please"

„ Sr. Bojangles „
Conocí a un hombre, Bojangles, y
el bailaria para ti
Con zapatos desgastados, con cabello plateado,
una camisa andrajosa y pantalones anchos.
Haría 'El viejo zapato blando'
Podía saltar tan alto
salta tan alto
Y luego, suavemente, aterrizaría
_________________
Mientras yo estaba abajo y fuera

Simply Incrable
The feeling in his voice brought out the song to life as he sang it. Watching him sing and dance to it. RIP Sammy Davis JR!
PURE TALENT AND CLASS.
Quite simply, the greatest entertainer the world has seen. Unmatched and probably never will be!
I often wonder why, English, Dutch, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, Greek, Irish - all colonised many Countries around the globe including Australia, Canada, all of South America, Polynesia, Africa and America. Yet racism of black vs white - still is only an issue of the highest degree in America, yet all those are guests except the Indigenous. Bizarre!
I remember hearing of Sammy's passsing while in my Connecticut office. I just sat there and tears rushed down my face. More class in his little finger than all the celebrities of today combined. RIP Sammy.
I love his voice there is nothing fake in it
An they should give his band more credit it is amezing
Because its good!!!
Supreme talent..❤️
Nothing and nobody will or ever come close to him, just magic
I.met him at a charity event .he was very nice
AND ONE TIME I DELIVER MAIL TO HIS HOUSE. I LOVED HIS MUSIC
Me too
Master of his craft...never be another Sammy....
Ответитьhe loved Elvis and the feeling was mutual
Sammy “ was a magnificent club entertainer one of the greatest entertainer of the 20th CENTURY ❤
My boys in Tampa used to play Bojangles in reggae for me
A legend doing what he loves the most.
If that's the son, imagine how good the father will be!!! 🙂
I can't begin to say how amazing this is... and he was - a gift forever for all of us; LEGEND! thank you Mr Davis Jr... thank you!
The man could sing !! 😎
Bread did a poignant song called 'Guitar Man.' It's a similar idea. An entertainer whose career is fading out.
Those times when the audience was still permitted to have their elbows on stage...
This is my favorite version of this song. I keep watching this same video, over and over and over. Thank you, Sammy!
Ironically, he once said in an interview that his greatest fear was ending up just like Bill "Bojangles" Robinson who died in poverty.
Ed Sullivan paid for Bill Robinson's funeral and hundreds of thousands of people came to it. "Mr Bojangles" may have died in poverty, but he was rich in all the love directed towards him. I love his movies.
💜💜💜
Frank Sinatras pet nigga
GOT TEARS WHENEVER I LISTEN TO IT .......
No one sings this like Sammy
Composition. Walker said he was inspired to write the song after an encounter with a street performer in a New Orleans jail. While in jail for public intoxication in 1965, he met a homeless man who called himself "Mr. Bojangles" to conceal his true identity from the police.
Mother in heaven, what a genius ,voice from the gods.🙏🏽✊🏾
Is this performance available on DVD anywhere?
Dang, I love his voice.
It is not his song dear all . It is Jerry Jeff Walker's song ! Said that , RIP Sammy , we love you forever and you made this masterpiece fly with your magical voice . RIP Jerry Jeff Walker . RIP and sing in heaven both , if there is one somewhere above the skies of New Orleans ! ♥ cause sometimes we cry for you , just like now, and we are all a bit Bojangles ..... ♥
What a total talent Sammy was. This is such a beautiful interpretation. To me this song has an Americana-Steven Foster-Mark-Twain-Riverboat-era quality about it.
One of the best male performers of the 20th Century. Sammy Davis Jr knew how to deliver a song like no one could. If this song doesn't move you, nothing well! Incredible......
Powerful
Sammy Davis Jr.
Amazing talent
