A bit dull is like saying antarctica a is a bit cool. Ottawa is a JOKE
ОтветитьThis video seems to be limited to the downtown core, Lowertown (Byward Market), and the Museum of Civilization, which is not part of Ottawa. You've missed so many great spots, such as the canal down to Dow's Lake, Hog's Back Falls, Rideau Falls, Lansdowne, and so much more. There is a nightlife but not so much in the core, as it's mostly government offices and retail buildings. If you're travelling with kids, you're probably not going to find too much for them at night (plus, you're probably putting them to bed so didn't have an opportunity to explore the nightlife?). I've lived most of my life in Ottawa and I've always found great night spots. And I've never felt unsafe here.
ОтветитьThis video is two years old. The market stalls are all gone except for one selling maple syrup and another reselling veggies. It has crazy people screaming at strangers, drunk snd high street people. I used to love going downown before Covid. Now it is definitely not what it used to be and definitely does not feel safe even during the day. So sad😢
ОтветитьI live in Ottawa and downtown is not safe anymore.
ОтветитьI love attowa and i spent all my summers there. an i don't think it's boring in the least
ОтветитьI visited Ottawa, but needed to leave after two days as there just didnt feel like anything left. My top things
-walk Parliament buildings
-art museum
-get some some food from Byward market and walk the canal and neighborhood back.
- walk Elgin street and get dinner.
-get some snacks and walk the arboretum.
Ngl the fire at parliament hill stinks
ОтветитьAlways funny when I hear tourists talking about Ottawa. I think most of the comments are spot on. I live in Ottawa and it is a rather boring city for night life. Don't come in Winter as it is bloody cold. Skating on the Rideau Canal isn't fun when the temperature is -20 Celsius in the open with the awful wind. Hotel is expensive for sure. If I were a tourist, I would spend my money in Calgary, Vancouver ... much nicer places.
ОтветитьI live in Montreal and I like Ottawa! I'm not a 30 yr old so I could care less about the nightlife. Also, I never found Byward Market to be a sketchy area.
ОтветитьMy dad grew up right next to Ottawa. He said that it's not great to visit, but it's not a bad place to live. Then again he moved to the UK, which is where I'm in. So who knows?
ОтветитьThe ABSOLUTE last place on earth I would visit
ОтветитьHi Mark! I'm from Ottawa, and there are things I could add or help understand better :) too many to write it (yes I'm a bit lazy right now) but if you would like a "local" to help as a consultant for anything and everything Ottawa, before your next Ottawa video, get in touch, I would be happy to help! Thanks for vids and for giving Canada some love! :)
ОтветитьVery disappointed. Stock footage..and all the Ottawa clichés none of the history. And please learn how to pronounce things before you comment, typical American..puts his views out there without verifying anything.
ОтветитьThanks for your beautiful video.... ⚘👌🙏
ОтветитьI'm so excited to visit in a few months. My gf lives there and I'll finally be able to be with her in person.
ОтветитьBeen here for over an year! I like NOTHING about this city. Getting the hell out.
ОтветитьDo you think it can get very cold in middle of December? I am planning to go and I am little bit concerned about weather...
ОтветитьHi! I like your videos.
May I correct something in the description of this one? Ottawa is a city located in Ontario. On the other side of the river is another city located in Quebec, called Gatineau. They sure are neighbor cities but should not be considered the same culturally, politically, etc.
Regards,
JRB
Ottawa has many great features, such as being the dominion of Gregory "Jreg" Guvaura. Vote for him in the upcoming mayoral election, or else.
ОтветитьI love when he said "I mean its way safer than the u.s. capital" as a Canadian American I feel very conflicted on how to feel about this lol
ОтветитьUh. A lot of the down town core clears up in the evening because most of the employees live in the suburbs or small towns outside of the core. Not because they’re from other cities or provinces. Ottawa is geographically huge.
ОтветитьLast call being at 2am sucks
ОтветитьI loved the women
Ответить.
ОтветитьIt’s called By Ward market not Bayward. Big fail
ОтветитьMy dream com to Canada 🇨🇦😪please help me please
ОтветитьThis is why we call Ottawa "the city that fun forgot."
ОтветитьThe pandemic has really turned the city in a shitty place. Ngl
ОтветитьI wouldn't live here if i was you. Its cold boring and expensive for no reason
ОтветитьI love your videos. Thanks for making them. Good info.
ОтветитьOttawa. Corrupt lazy police officers who often side with the criminals
ОтветитьGet rid of Justin Trudeau now he is a jerk that needs to be replaced by a real leader and then Ottawa will be a better place especially the rest of Canada will be happy and prosperous too
ОтветитьFinally a USEFUL video 👌
ОтветитьOttawa night life it probably not as crazy as mtl or Toronto but are night life is great
ОтветитьEvery large city has sketchy areas and homeless people. But to compare Ottawa to Toronto and Montreal and say that Ottawa needs to be cleaned up and spruced up to be more like Toronto and Montreal is the most RIDICULOUS thing I’ve ever heard. Have you even been to Toronto and Montreal? Elbow grease and run down? Please. And it’s the BYward Market, not Bayward.
ОтветитьIts quite dull out here not gonna lie
ОтветитьBeen there a few times. Byward is very busy and lots of activity in the summer. Lots of choices of food and patios to grab a beer. Lots of walking trails and mix of city and nature a great balance. Not overwhelming like the large cities. People always seemed very friendly/happy and seemed family friendly. Prefer Ottawa and Kingston over Montreal and Toronto.
ОтветитьOttawa boring
ОтветитьHate #6: The weather - summers are too hot and the winters are too cold.
ОтветитьIts the b(eye)ward market.
ОтветитьThe most boring city i ever lived.
ОтветитьYou need a car to have a good time here. Tourists must hate the fact that the main attractions are so spread out, and the downtown core is so small. You could fit the areas of Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver inside Ottawa. Don't rely on the transit systems exclusively, you won't be pleased.
Why anyone from out of town would be attracted to the Byward Market, I have no idea. It's a sty. Positively nothing like being in Europe.
I can't take this guy seriously if he cant pronounce words properly. Rideau (ree doh) not "Ridal" and Byward (By ward) not "Bayward".
ОтветитьHaha! I’ve been working in Ottawa’s nightlife for 15 years. We have an amazing underground... you just have to look for it. It’s not for the tourists so if you don’t know someone here, you won’t find the graffiti, the film festivals, the concerts, the really weird stuff like drag shows, pop up dinner parties in weird locations, the rap battles, etc...
Forget winter in Ottawa though. I travel in the winter 😅
Pretty fair, nightlife maybe underrated, with two large universities and multiple colleges it can make a decent scene on weekends in the market during the school year as a young person.
ОтветитьThe Byward market is not sketchy aside from the homeless shelter where people sell drugs out in the open. Only Rideau Street is sketchy at night at this one particular McDonald's which always has problems. There is a video of a massive brawl that took place there in front of the cashiers and a dude pulls out a baby racoon mid-video. There's been many times where I've been trapped on Rideau street because the buses only kick back in around 5AM. Don't talk to anyone and don't try and bum a cigarette and you should be fine. Other than that, there are a few night clubs in the downtown area, bars and restaurants, and a strip club if one were so inclined. If that gets boring, you can always try and find a night club or two directly across the bridge to Hull, Gatineau.
ОтветитьMention Bank Street! All the way to Lansdowne! It's a scenery change form downtown! Tons of shops too.
Ответитьworst review ever an absolutely idiot !!!! nothing this guy says don't listen to him. he only talks about downtown area the worst area and being really friendly no! not to mention Ottawa does have over a million people and funny he talks abut people needing to be rich well if ur only visiting the snobbiest people yes downtown is right for you but if you really wanna see how good Ottawa is stay out of downtown this man clearly did not leave the downtown core and did not go to the west, east or even south. Ottawa downtown is gross just like everyone's downtown here are full of drug using homeless people begging and bugging you for money or dealers not to mention we have not been busy as he shows. we are lock down as far as parking downtown? good luck! trust me when i say this i lived in Ottawa all my life and i think its 1 of the worst city in Canada #1 goes to the province of Quebec where they are supper raciest cops will pull u over just for having an Ontario plate not to mention 1 the most effect Covid epic centre in Canada .
ОтветитьWith covid the market turned in to and 80s apocalypse movie with the weird goth gangs. Very funny
