What if your new capacitor has 2 can prongs instead of 1 like the original?
Old capacitor: 70/7.5uf 370v +/- 10%
New capacitor: 70/7.5uf 370-440v +/- 6%
Just saved me $150.00 thank you!!
ОтветитьCompletely skipped the most important part, discharging the capacitor.
ОтветитьI have a red wire, a light blue wire, and a detached brown wire. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
ОтветитьThanks!!!
ОтветитьYeah he didn't
ОтветитьWhat size screw holds on the capacitor?
ОтветитьBlack/blue - C
Yellow - Hermetic
Brown - FAN
Your welcome
Thank you very much for posting this and other videos. You explain the subjects very clearly. Is it possible to replace two single capacitors (a start and a run) with one dual capacitor? I ask this question because I was unable to find a single start cap with 30-33 uF.
ОтветитьYet, he replaced the capacitor with one of a visibly different size... likely went from 440 to 220 a lesser grade cap...
ОтветитьIs this guy still alive?😂
ОтветитьYou displayed how to replace the capacitor, but didn't mention what each wire does.
ОтветитьMajor safety concern in this video. Capacitors need to be discharged. Mishandling a capacitor that has not been discharged is potentially lethal.
ОтветитьI literally just paid somebody $200 to do this. Guess now I know for next time.
ОтветитьYou literally just saved me $8,000. Thank you.
ОтветитьDamn I just spent $265 to get this fixed. Lesson learned
ОтветитьThe whole reason I watched this video was
to learn how to properly discharge and
change a capacitor and you totally skipped
that step. I'm still confused here. I know
how to discharge the capacitor if there are
no wires attached but I'm afraid to discharge it with the wires still connected... what if it sparks and fries
some motor or control board because the
wires are still connected? But on the other
hand I don't feel comfortable taking the
wires off of the capacitor with metal needle nose pliers if the thing is still potentially
packing hundreds of volts... how do I safely move forward?
You never told which terminals to hook to on the
new one. WHICH IS WHICH ?
You should ground out the old capacitor terminals with a screwdriver to the cabinet of the u it before touching them, some will hold a charge.
ОтветитьIs it ok to use Dielectric Grease on the top cap and power lines?
ОтветитьVery bad tutorial ... why didnt you show the teeth and explain whats what idiot
ОтветитьNow I'm kinda sad....we paid $285 to have this done😭 But some wires did get fried so he had to do some cutting, plus checked compressor and freon. He sprayed the unit with water too, I guess. We'll know what to do for next time.
ОтветитьI changed the motor and the wire colours are different. There are no standards except for black. I've watched 10 videos on this subject and NO ONE FOLLOWS WHERE THE WIRES ARE COMING FROM. Why can't some one be different and more explanatory. That would be too simple right?
ОтветитьI don't have a brown wire connected to my capacitor only a black one, does the black one has the same function of the brown one?!!
I have 2 yellow ones, 2 red ones and 1 black one!!
So what issues occur when the capacitor fails ?
ОтветитьI think it is very BAD that your website does not list the diameter of the capacitors you sell.
ОтветитьMight better mention the shock hazard and how to discharge the capaciter first...
ОтветитьI've got a question.. I'm looking at 2 capacitors in my 5-ton unit. Both
say "motor RUN capacitors" on them. The smaller one is a 10 MFD
440/370 which I would guess is actually for run. The second one is a 70 MFD
440/370 which I think should actually be a start capacitor. What I surmised
is that the 70 MFD seams awful low, plus again, it says on it
"RUN" capacitor, not start capacitor. Any thoughts and response would
be greatly appreciated. Hope all is well. Thank You
🔥🔥🔥
ОтветитьMy AC is working again! Took me just 15 minutes and $18. The wife thinks I'm a god. I'm gonna get lucky tonight :-)
ОтветитьI have different color wires, 2 brown wires, a black white wire and a yellow wire. I plugged the two browns in the square capacitor, I plugged the yellow into the bigger capacitor and plugged the black wire do the black box thing..(not sure) ..now my air barely blows..and it blows like a luke warm air
ОтветитьA/C Capacitor's can kill. Do not stick your finger's near the leads. Discharging the capacitor is IMPORTANT.
ОтветитьHi, i need some help, should I discharge the capacitor before i unhook the terminals? How should i do that?
Ответитьis it possible there's no capacitor connected to the fan motor?
ОтветитьAttention Viewers:
Serious injury or death may result following the procedures in this video as outlined by North America HVAC. This video should have been updated OR removed after the first comment long ago. Others have commented on it, and obviously customer consideration or welfare is not their priority. This video makes me want to shop elsewhere based on this wrecklessness. May God show them way.
Watch videos from someone else to learn about DISCHARGING before touching terminals.
Nope- wrong tutorial from the start.... forgot the basics, discharge capacitor, label wires as C, F (Fan) and H (Herm), this will ensure next time it is useful, thirdly, mount the wires on new ones and then clamp the capacitor so that you have better working space, adjust the crimp grip gently so that nothing is loose etc . Why I am here, because I just changed one, Ac tech wanted $375 to replace it, I just looked at him and gave the sarcastic smile, he got the message and said pick up one for under $20 ( Genteq) online and DIY. He knew last year I had done it on the furnace when he asked for $250 for that one!
ОтветитьI wonder if this guy still alive he does not discharge capacitors before handling
Ответитьis it normal that I have one wire to C, and two wire to HERM and no wires to FAN?
ОтветитьTo all the haters... run caps don’t hold a charge.
ОтветитьUnfortunately my capacitor didn’t know it was the sabbath. At least my pregnant wife will end up in heaven when she dies of heat stroke because I’m so respectful of your arcane religious beliefs. I’m always bemused by what Jewish customs random Christian denominations decide are paramount, while they blatantly disregard the majority of Jewish admonishments.
ОтветитьYou said NOTHING about discharging the capacitor prior- LIABILITY!!!!!!!
ОтветитьHow do u share this foolish video to kill peoples who don't know about capacitor ,if capacitor didn't get discharge it will give fatal shock to person who will try to replace capacitor
ОтветитьAnd not to mention the fact that on almost every condenser ever made has a wiring diagram right on the back of the cover that tells you exactly where the wires go and the rest is common sense!
ОтветитьThanks for the video! Are you using Excellite tools?
Ответитьyou didn;t touch on if you used some sort of generic capacitor. what's important just these numbers: 370 VAC 45 + 5 MFD. It would be good if you would have explained these numbers.
ОтветитьHow come you didn't discharge the old capacitor with an insulated screw driver before you pulled the leads? don't they hold a charge?
ОтветитьBe careful you must DISCHARGE the old capacitor before you touch it. He did not show that first. So there are other you tube that show you that the correct way. Be careful of this video. I believe he means well🙂
