I Review GOLDEN FISH AND CHIPS!

As a Yorkshireman who's been exiled to London, I've really struggled to find a decent chippy. That said, when I was in Greenwich, I called in here and was genuinely surprised by the quality, service and the fact it felt like a proper 'chippy'. Really do think it's the best in London (and I've tried a fair few!).

The majority of fish and chips establishments in the north of the UK serve good quality food. Unfortunately, the majority of the southern parts of the UK cannot match it.
Having said that, it is the same when in comes to, for example, middle eastern food establishments on the Edgeware Rd compared to the north.
In short, certain regions are just better than others.

Playing catch up here, I've been in the Canaries, and not checking vids :) Not to sound mean, but i'd struggle with the prices here (on principle), 15 or so quid for that tiddlin' bit of rock... Others at nearly 20 quid, just for the fish!, yeah, maybe if it'd been cooked by Escoffier! On a slightly lighter note, salad with F&C's is an anathema. There's a real Sophie's choice, told you've got to have salad or gravy. A lose, lose if ever there was one... it'd be gravy on the side for me.

I could not find the video the video related to your appaling pronunciation of some words. Its Chumus ,ITS LIKE THE SCOTISH LOCH, Not humoos. Secondly its not a proffesional culnary review, its just youe opinion. You slag off Goedon Ramsay, pity you have not made it is big as he has. Finally you are putting on a ton of weight, i would be very very careful.

Really like the fact the coldin chippy when bring your fist and chips with salad it whas not over done on perception were not over done and its the frist time i have ever seen desert being served at chippy very unique giving this review 10/10

I love fish & chips, even better in newspaper, but it's beyond me how you can eat mushy peas, disgusting!! lol

When I was very young, my father always ordered fish and chips on a Friday evening and I always ordered Rock; it was a long time before I knew that it was Eel and that put me off it and now I always order Cod, but I quite enjoy Plaice and Skate.

I hardly go to a chippie now, not just due to cost but they all (in the south) use the cheap poisonous seed oils that are responsible for diabetes and cancers and which leave a horrible aftertatse. Why no traditional beef dripping like many in Yorkshire???

Due to my age I complain bitterly about recent price increases of almost everything, including the cost of fish and chips. However the Golden Chippy includes a salad and a sit down dining experience with china and proper cutlery - so suddenly the price seems a lot more reasonable. If the quality is as good as you say then this venue must be well worth a visit. If I go then I will undoubtedly choose cod, or a sausage if I'm skint. I don't want to cast aspersions on people who choose other fish, but really everyone knows cod is best - end of.

Rockfish is my favourite. It's not actually a fish, but a type of small shark, hence the thick spine. Some chippies call it huss.

Fish looked fab. My mum always loved a piece of rock. Made my mouth water watching you eat your fish and chips Gary. Live in Portugal and really miss the British fish and chips. Best in the world! Thanks for a great review.

My favourite is halibut, but that's rarely to be seen. 2nd is plaice, but only if the fillets are properly large.

Another fantastic video gary, soooo pleased it was a good choice. Could you please visit and review The Pilot Inn in Dymchurch, i was there at xmas and the fish was the best i have had in years, go early as it is soooo popular, lovely area too

Proper chips. Not those triple cooked chips that restaurants tend to flog nowadays. They should be called "Three times fewer than normal" chips.

Rock chips and tartare sauce omg my absolut favorite not too sure on mushy peas even though peas are pease 😂

Try McDermotts in Addington, Croydon. It’s almost always excellent.

Here in Australia my go to fish is bream flat head fillets or fresh water bass, prawns which I catch out of my fishing boat also mud crabs I live on the banks of the hawkesbury river fishing so I go fishing myself so super fresh and I have my own crab pots so fresh crab and also have a mate down the road who has a prawn trawler so always fresh prawns.

You`ll love the deep fried mars bar, we have it here in Aus.

Fish finger chips and salad. Salad should never be on a plate with fish n chips. Chicken and burgers neither. Sorry this is a solid thumbs down from me
