NEW Mac Studio (M2 Ultra) – Unboxing & First Impressions

Do you think the new Mac Studio is worthy of an upgrade to? I'll share my full review soon!

The fan noises were more of an issue in the M1 Studios. The fans were always running at moderate speed, even when they didn't need to be, which wasn't incredibly loud, but was loud enough to be noticed (somewhat comparable to the sound of central air conditioning). There was also kind of a faint, scratchy component to it that was actually caused by air whistling through the holes on the back. The fans on the M2 models are almost completely silent most of the time. There is still a little bit of that scratchy whistle sound, but it's very quiet.

Picked up a maxed-out MS M2 Ultra for my hobby, very excited to kick it around!

Im a rookie when it comes to this but what do you recommend between a mac mini and a mac studio? i need one for my home studio production,

Thanks for the unboxing. Well done. Would you please run a Black Magic speed/read/write test on your SSD? Nearly all of the review samples have had the 4TB drive that is reportedly considerably faster than then base model. I am hoping to buy this base model and wanted to see how it stacks up against the 4TB. Thanks!

Nice unboxing. As an iOS developer I’m thinking of replacing my 2019 16” MBP with one of these (it hardly leaves my desk these days anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️). And I think when comparing M2 to Intel, Apple know that the M2s are likely to be considered mostly by users who are still on Intel machines, not M1s.

To your point, I've always found it strange that a Mac mini M2 Pro 32GB/512GB configuration is more expensive than the base Mac Studio M2 Max 12cpu/30gpu with same RAM and SSD as the mini, which just proves Apple overcharges on upgrades. So the Mac Studio is looking like a win

so why would anyone get the mac pro now? 3000$ more for a case and expansion lol
