Hi there - My relative recommended your channel so I am here watching my first of all your videos. I live in the UK so hopefully you can help me please.
I have disconnected my Solar System to upgrade it and although everything worked seamlessly on Solar / Batteries before disconnecting it all I am now having a silly problem with the lighting circuits on the incoming grid supply. When switching on various lights now some of them are working fine but some are strobing ! ? ? ? Any help or advice you can offer would be very welcome please ! Thanks again for a helpful video which isn't unfortunately the cause of my problem.
I'm not a qualified electrician but have worked with a Sparky for a few years so I know enough to understand the UK system - but this problem has really got me beaten so far.
Kind Regards . . . Eddie.
My lights are doing this turn one on a other gos off same thing flicking let yous know what the problem was when it gets fixed thanks for the video Jordan was helpful
ОтветитьBloody hell old Lynne was pretty helpful.. Western Power over here is Aus could learn a few things about customer service..
ОтветитьI just saw this in my house after some fault they "fixed" in the substation
ОтветитьI had the same problem with flickering lights and the consumer unit tripping. I notice when I switched the breakers back on there was a spark from the cables coming into the house. Got the power company in and they traced it to a loose connection. They tightened it up and it’s been fine since. SSEN responded within an hour and it was very quickly sorted and tested.
ОтветитьGrow
Ответитьloose connection maybe
ОтветитьBad neutral connection at pole
ОтветитьInteresting video matey. I have the same thing happening only one my hallway lights and the landing. We had a power cut last week and since then the lights in the rooms mentioned are flickering. Luckily my neighbour is a qualified electrician who I’ve worked alongside for years, I’m a general builder. He’s going to be looking at it this week. Can’t help but think that it’s something to do with the power cut and the fact national grid have been digging up the power boxes nearby. Such a strange one. You boil the kettle and the lights almost go out. Great channel. Always love to keep up with what other trades do day in day out! 👍
ОтветитьBad neutral.
Ответить*rush intensifies*
ОтветитьThese are very civilized "fluctuations" in Britain :) I had to install a separate stabilizer for each phase to deal with 180-230 volt fluctuations. But that's Ukraine :) In your case, you could have advised changing E27 bulbs to LED ones with the IC driver supporting 160-240V voltages. And granny won't be bothered with "flickering" anymore.
ОтветитьGreat videos, just keep watching them when I get a spare moment. So good 👍🏽
ОтветитьNice work...
ОтветитьWhen I run into this problem in the US where several homes are involved, it is usually an issue with the transformer.
ОтветитьHello,
Good video, did you ever find out what was causing the issue? Very interesting would like to know
Great video
Bla bla bla
ОтветитьSome one probably setup a workshop at a nearby home running inverter type machines
ОтветитьJust came out of big heavy snow in Nor Cal foothills. Many down trees which took out wires, poles etc. No power for 9 days. Crews here yesterday restored power but we had major flickering anytime a load larger then lights was energized. (All was good prior to outage) Coffee pot, microwave, lift station pump etc. would cause flickering. Told install crew about it before they left,. "All's good on our end, must be something at your house." Hmmm.. Placed call, PG&E svc tech came. Up & down the line, checked my service panel, weird voltages. Found neighbors with same issue. Bottom line, found bad/wrong connection feeding the transformer the installers just completed.
ОтветитьWas guessing a damaged line coming in the home until I caught you saying others in the area were having the same issue. Nice Work. Thanks
ОтветитьHey mate it must be the electric company they ran out of cable and used a extension cord hassassassass
ОтветитьGood practical advice. Thanks
ОтветитьYou should have followed your nose along street....pesky pot heads :@
ОтветитьHi great video, i was wondering what would cause my landing light to dim as if it wasn't getting enough power ? i changed the whole unit because the old one didn't work and since i have installed the new one it only seems to be barely lit !
ОтветитьStep number one: Has Photonicinduction moved into the area recently?
ОтветитьWe had a situation here recently where the damndest thing was happening - US. Power was going out every 8-9 minutes like clockwork for about 5 seconds. When it came up, the 240v nominal was at 280v (140 for either of the 120v halves), and this dropped off more or less linearly until 180v on the 240v and 90v on the 120v, when presumably some safety cutout was hit.... Which promptly reset 5 seconds later. It affected a suburban area the size of a small city... Went on all afternoon like that.
ОтветитьWhat did it turn out to be?
ОтветитьHad similar fault on a friends farm...TT system....transformer on a pole at fault.
ОтветитьIt’s funny I was wondering the same 🤔
ОтветитьHere's a little story from Norway:
At my mothers house, I measured a voltage drop all the way down to 215V on the supply line. She noticed it by some lights in the living room lighting up very dim, and the cooker had very weak heat when she cooked dinner.
I called the company responsible for the power supply in her area. They sent us a plug-in device that we plug into a wall socket, and it monitors and sends data to the power company to let them monitor it more closely. They monitored it for about 2 weeks, and they got back to us and informed us it was a bad transformer causing the voltage problems. Mystery solved.
has anyone ever told you, you look like a slim piers morgan?
ОтветитьWhat was the outcome?
Ответитьany update on this please
ОтветитьSaw this caused by an old/bad transformer, years ago.
ОтветитьIf the Fire Service turns up to a local property, chances are that will be where the "grow" is. A few amps too much for the circuitry, and result is "Fire".
ОтветитьTHese are the Jobs that a customer needs to FULLY understand what a call out charge means and includes !
ОтветитьDid a Cannabis farm spring up and connect directly into live the street supply? That happened near me.
ОтветитьUK Power Networks have always been brilliant when I have called them - at any time of day.
ОтветитьA few years ago I had a very similar issue at my residence. All the lights in the house were dimming very low, even to a point where they would almost completely turn off and back on. I also am an Electrician so I put my multimeter on it and was getting 100 volts on A phase and 140 volts on the B phase. I am in North America so we operate at 120/240 volt system for all our residential needs. After a couple
days of trouble shooting I discovered that the Neutral wire which is the bare conductor that comes in from the City supply wires had some white corrosion inside the crimped connection. I removed it and installed a new one with antioxidant lube inside of it. The neutral wire just so happens to be made from Aluminum. Anytime when Aluminum is used it’s definitely recommend to use the lubricant when making splices. I am curious to know if the problem you had was resolved and what the details were. Thanks for posting!!
Electroboom Grrrrr Stop it!!
ОтветитьMight be a secret agent in the area ..sending a morse code..🧐
ОтветитьHELLO WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR CAMERA
ОтветитьMay be Transformer jumper not connected properly ( loose connection)
ОтветитьWhat was the cause in the end?
Looks to me like some sort of motor with a locked rotor (e.g. air conditioner) that tries to start, fails, trips and then resets to try again.
But that sort of voltage drop it would be in the customer's house. Should not have that drop if it were someone else's house.
Always keen to know the reason for the fault.
I had flickering on my lights one evening and no power the next morning, turned out a joint in the ground outside my house had burnt out.
Ответитьdodgy joint
Ответитьwe had sililar problems too a few years back, someone nearby was just sucking up all the electricity with some heavy machines,
when it turned on the lights dimmed quite a lot, it was realy annoying. The sensitive electronis didnt like it.
👍👍👍
Ответитьwell what was it then?
