Also Darren Aronofsky plagiarized the hell out of Satoshi and sidestepped any allegations of plagiarism every time anyone questioned him, because Black Swan is a rip off of Perfect Blue.

Best psychological thriller ever.
Perfect blue was way ahead of it's time.
Wish Satoshi kon were still alive. We could've got many more masterpieces from him. Gone too soon

For me the scariest thing was that mema had to go trough all of this ALONE. All that pain and questions and no one seems to care. And the one person who actually kinda cared about her turned out to be the root of her suffering. This definetly reflects mental illness the best, when you're sick it seems like no one else is. You are alone.

Wowzer. This video is documentary worthy. When you said that you were 12 first time seeing Perfect Blue, I immediately thought the same thing as I was nearly that age as well when I saw it. I also never understood it to it's full extent being so young at the time, however the more I watch it and the more I see how things develop in the world, the more it makes sense to me. I also thought that this film had crazy predictions at times but thought of them as coincidental. Satoshi Kon was a master director and it's sad that he passed a while back as I can only imagine what other fantastic films he could have brought for the world to see

Writing thinks down of what we come up with smart student's become scholars, mathematians, engeneers, and scientists and athelits become olympic champions so does it prove of who become's of them there likely isolating there trueselves of there false image.

My buddy came to stay with me after we graduated HS in 91 and brought a copy of Akira with him figuring I might be into it (early 80’s LA we had Robotrech on TV). It’s one of those moments that I can only compare to 1st listening to Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, or the 1st time you saw The Matrix. Nothing was the same after that.

I just realized that Mr. Mimaniya is a play on words. It's a combo of Mima and Mania. Mr. Mima Mania. Maybe that's his username in the website Mima's Room, and he actually likes to go by that IRL. Or maybe it's just Kon giving us an easter egg. It's such a perfect little nod to the themes of this movie, the blending together of reality and fiction, identity and avatar, yet it hides in plain sight just like the killer does/sounds like an actual japanese name so we can't really tell if it was intentional or not just like we can't really tell if Mima's sadistic avatar is just her hallucinating or if it really did come to life and possess Rumi.

I've never seen such an accurate and terrifying dipiction of what losing your mental health is actually like. The fear and terror that this movie invokes in me is always overwhelming. But it's not a scary movie, in the sense of what dumb kids think a scary movie is. There's maybe 1 jump scare. Kids think that being startled is equal to being scared. It's not at all. We should start calling them jump startles instead of jump scares because they almost never actually do more than startle us and never actually scare us. Kids don't know the difference and that's why when they hear stuff like "The Shining is the scariest movie ever," and then they watch it and don't the startles they were expecting, they think it's not scary. They're too inexperienced and overconfident and arrogant to understand the fear that these perfect horror movies invoke in you. If they've never known the fear of a panic attack and deteriorating mental health then they won't find this that scary because they have no frame of reference, they don't know what it's like. That paranoia that's ALWAYS there, never ending, constantly eating away at your sanity every second of every day... Kids are so arrogant and overconfident that they will actually willingly sign up to go fight in a war, the most horrifying place ever. If actual war can't scare them, how can a horror film possibly scare them? But they think something like the fucking Babadook is scary, and we're watching it and laughing our asses off the whole time lol.

It’s crazy how actors can suffer an identity crisis after playing a whole bunch of characters. I mean, look at what happened to Austin Butler who played Elvis…he dug so deep into that character that he had trouble getting his original voice back. Same with Johnny Deep. Johnny Deep from right now doesn’t sound like the same Johnny from before, he talks with an accent similar to Jack Sparrow now.

Slayer - Season Of The Abyss: The Movie.

All seriousness, this is why you should seek mental help.

RIP Satoshi Kon. And funny thing is that 7 days before he died, my dad would commit suicide which almost be similar to what I just witnessed in this film. Life has a sense of Irony.
