yeah i've been outside before to destroy a random TV then let it drown in the rain
ОтветитьIndeed, I don’t think swiping through our phones is going to make us different nor strengthen our individuality. It only makes us the same, the same in a way that we no longer think about the world outside our phones, therefore losing the ability to think and evaluate things independently, while lacking in personality and speciality.
ОтветитьCame here from Cal newports mention of Adam and his books in Digital minimalish. Imprassive, thanks for this learning. :)
ОтветитьThat’s why I am watching in my laundry machine 😂
ОтветитьHumans weren't designed to use their hands to press buttons all day, and our bodies weren't designed to sit all day and neither were we born to keep our heads still all day in front of our screens. We associate sitting with eating, as cinemas and shows encouraged a break involving a snack, which we associate when we watch a film on our tv, and now we are using screens most of the day, watching a screen during our working days, or school days, our evenings, its become sociable to engage on a screen to connect with our families, friends, celebrities, all the while thinking of food, when a break comes on or an advert appears, its time to raid the food cupboard, we are sitting down and eating is easy sitting and near impossible whilst in movement. Family meal times are interrupted by screens, meal times aren't the norm with everyone busy on screens, working from home, your near a fridge, at work snack are easy to have whilst working, and our phones have become part of who we are, the latest model makes you feel more acceptable to society, and today if you don't have one you become isolated from society. The health implications, is the damage done to our skeletal body, physiotherapists are required for injuries caused by sitting still all day, muscles are wasting, mental stress and fatigue, weight gain, are happiness declines as we are no longer actioning are own private thoughts and feelings of who we actually are, and if we aren't who we are, then who are we? Real physical activity is no longer the norm, and physical jobs are becoming the intrusion into our lives taking our minds away from our screens, missing out on the latest tweet, or saga pinging onto the screen. Love is lost, and technology has taken over.
Ответитьthis whole tedtalk bro was just saying "touch grass"
Ответитьi think its safe to say that now personal space is taking over survival and work + commute time for many,, damn even the time to sleep..
ОтветитьBesides the obvious there' a very good tip for people with ADHD: stopping-cues! I'll dig into that further.
ОтветитьThis is just the start of technology taking control over human brain, once AI fully developed, technology will rule this planet and convince humans that they are not good enough to live anymore because in the end of the day technology controls our thoughts
ОтветитьHow can someone watch this and leave with the conclusion that he's saying we shouldn't use screen at all? Unless the screen time has done some serious dumbing down.
ОтветитьOh I'd love to see what western Europe is like to be the only ones that have stopping cues, it isn't that way because the robbing of stopping cues... is ultimately that way in America lol
Ответить"on and on and on"

ОтветитьHappiness is an overrated emotion that you don’t need
ОтветитьVery interesting topic, but I still have a double feeling. I agree with Adam that we are waisting a lot of time on useless things while using our smartphones but on the other side it facilitates our lives, for example road maps, COVID safe tickets, Smartschool, ...
In a comprehensive way, Adam Alter points out that we spend too much time of our actual spare time on our screens. We can ask ourselves the question, whether it are the screens that degrade our mental and physical health or does it depend on which apps and how long we use them?
it is bad
ОтветитьI can think of a industry where they don’t use they’re own products. BIG PHARMA
ОтветитьI found that listening instead of watching helps keep the attention span neutral. Kinda like reading a book. You have to pay attention more because it’s easier to understand a person when you watch their movements but listening actually increases your focus and brain activity. I guess something to do with putting all the effort into hearing instead of using sight and hearing.
Ответитьwhere all these evidence come from, sounds not persuasive to me
ОтветитьI've got tears in my eyes...
ОтветитьMan I felt so good after watching this, Thanks a lot TED.
Ответитьthese strategies doesn't work I'm the living example
ОтветитьWho are the 420 dislikers
They may be big-tech company who want we will engage with phone
Amazing
ОтветитьMane I don’t want to do this English assignment rn
ОтветитьI hate smartphones and other "smart"watches.
I just have this natural aversion to them.
I feel that they waste your life.
I noticed my mental health has a direct correlation to the amount of screen time I do in a day. If I’m at 6 hours, I’ll be terribly anxiety ridden. If I’m at 2, I’ll be iffy but manageable. If I don’t use it, I feel entirely calm.
Ответитьngl this man's got dope rhetoric skills
