The Most Important Arc Types In Shonen Manga

Crazy to think about how most tournament arcs windup with the protag losing in some shape or form (usually to show they have a lot more to do to grow both physically and mentally).

And despite War arcs being my favorite kinds of arcs in manga/anime, I feel like it’s so easy to screw up and have become boring. Shonens with big casts will inevitably have to give each semi-relevant character a moment/fight scene and if those characters aren’t likable or if they’re too damn many of them it can easily feel like a snooze fest half the time. The opposite could also happen where it feels like important characters OR characters that used to be relevant are just randomly tacked on out of nowhere or given random buffs since it’s the end of the series. There’s a fine line to doing a good war arc and making every separate interaction and fight great.
