EPISODE 4 SITAR
SITAR is a beautiful plucked string instrument popular in the Indian subcontinent.
With its intricately carved designs and majestic looking frets it is loved by all the music lovers world over. Sitar produces an astonishing range of sounds for various moods, euphoric, exciting, soothing as well as meditative.
Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE is one of the most prominent Sitar players and Indian Music educators in the UK today.
Dharambir Singh is a disciple of the legendary Sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan. A visionary, he has been active in his amazing career, performing, teaching, advising, organising, mentoring and composing since 1979. He has laid a strong foundation for Indian classical music in England.
We sinerely thank many volunteers who have supported this project giving their valuable time and expertise -especially Dr Sumana Narain for her dance in this video and Roopa Panesar (Sitar Player) for introducing Ustad Dharambir Singh.
