Best 5-Minute Sweep Picking WORKOUT! (For Intermediate Players)

Can anyone tell me you you’re supposed to mute the lower strings from the index finger while also fretting with the fingertips like Bernth does in the demonstration? How does he play so effortlessly with his fingertips and keep it clean at the same time?

I know this has been up for 2 years, but thanks, Bernth! I started this probably 2 months ago. I wake up at 5am to practice every day and started incorporating this exercise. I hit 120 today! I was really focusing on economy of movement, staying relaxed, and visualizing the arps as a whole

Day 2: this morning my finger bled from playin guitar no joke 70 sound better but i can do 80 only 4 seconds

Day 4 70 without mistakes now 80 not very clean

Day 10 80 os ok 90 has mistakes

its my first time trying to sweep and I'm already loving it
day 1: 50bpm a little messy on the 19th but apart from that really clean pushing 60 tomorrow hopefully (24, September, 2023)

September 23: Got to 60 without too much issue, 70 starts to fall apart and it’s not very clean. I still got a while to go 😂
September 24: 60 is pretty solid today, and 70 it’s starting to get quite a bit better,but not prefect, once I get to 80 it is sort of distinguishable but it for the most part is a total train wreck!

Finallyyyy after 3-4 months of playing this I've been able to play at 120bpm(still little shaky) and 110 very clean! Time to hit 130bpm and above, so excited :)

i dont have 24 frets so its hard to go this high on my guitar 😢

Day 8 - Can now play 90bpm pretty well, pushed as hard as i could onto 100, scrappy, but feels like it'll definitely help 90 feels easier by pushing
Day 9 - Went on holiday, so no practice, 80 and 90 are rough, so will try to get back to where I was
Day 10 - starting to get back to where I was, still not fully there yet
Day 11 - I've lost a lot of motivation since holidays, been big gaps between practice, need to stay motivated, and get through each day as it comes, I'll improve so long as I stick to it, 80bpm really rough
Day 12 - Can get 90 roughly once again, 70/80bpm where comfortable though currently
Day 13 - same as day 12
Day 14 - While I'm back on 90 and struggling a bit, 100 very hard, 70 and 80 are feeling very clean, I actually feel like I can do decent sweep picking now
Day 15 - Feeling a little rough after going back to school, so a little hard, but did my best, 80bpm max for today

So I guess im not even a intermediate guitarist haha

July 27 Very close to having 80 bpm down on day 2

July 31st didn’t have time to play for a few days but have 80 bpm down today so still making progress completely broke down at 90 bpm lol couldn’t match it at all

Aug 1st almost got 90 bpm down but was making mistakes at even the slower bpm since today I just seemed to be off

Aug 2nd still stuck on 90 bpm not as good today for some reason

Aug 3 still stuck at 90 but I only had time to to practice once ussually I practice it once at the begging of my practice as a warmup and then at the end to see how good I can really

Aug 4 still stuck on 90 but better at 100 bpm going to start another exercise to help with my ascending and maybe smaller sweeps

Aug 5 watched what bernth was doing and realized he was hammering on for one of the notes tried now my 90 bpm is a bit more clean still need to to work on it but I can even start to play at 110 bpm
Aug 6 still stuck at 90 but it gets cleaner every day I can feel I’m getting closer

Isnt this a C Minor and C Major Shape??? I am confused…

I know you know arpeggios but I'm an ear player. I play mostly by learning songs by ear, note for note, with no tabs and very little music theory. And when I attempt to use either your tab or your red and white dots they don't match up. For example, when you're playing 14 hammer to 19 on the fifth string your red dots are showing 15 to 19 on the sixth string. And I am wondering as an ear player WHY you would play 14 on the fifth string when you could just start sweeping 19 on the sixth string since they're the same note?! Once you have the sweep technique down how would you use them in a composition? Would you figure out the chord progression of the song you're working on and all available notes for each chord and string the chords together?
