How many of these batteries would i need to run an eco worthy 3000w 24v hybrid inverter?

Hate to resurrect a dead horse, but now that Tesla Model S battery modules are ~$300, how do we feel about those for a lithium solar setup? I understand you can only use 80% of their capacity, and you have to find customizable hardware, but I just don't see a better bang for your buck. Right?

Batteries are cheaper and I'll tell you why, because you're not forced to buy them all at one time, unlike a high quality inverter.

Very tempting for my van build. I notice these are Lithium Iron Magnesium Phosphate. How is that different from LiFePo4?

Will, love your channel. Could you answer a question for me? I have 3 80ah AGM batteries now approaching 4 years old. Can you recommend a trickle charger and is there any truth on desulphication chargers? Cheaper the better and I can manually charge 1 at a time to save on charger costs.

I have about 100 of the original version 1 Valence U27 12XP modules which were part of a big contract for converted Ford transit vans in the UK done around 2010.. The conversion contract went horribly wrong when the converted vehicles were all found to be overweight and they were very quietly scrapped. The Transits sat around in a yard completely ignored and uncharged for years before they went to salvage auction and a year or so after this (2016/17) I got hold of them.

I remain simply staggered that many of them still have their full original rated capacity of 130Ah, even after I have thoroughly abused many of them principally by over discharging. They are not the most energy dense formats available by a long chalk, but boy are they resilient. Your versions (with the green cases) are a lot more recent than mine, but it sounds like the fundamental battery chemistry is next to bulletproof!

Oh… and (IMO) it’s pronounced ‘Vay-lence) as in the chemical bond thing…

Love the channel and all the great info!

I've got an idea for a video for you if you're interested.

People tend to have a bunch of DeWalt tool batteries, for example, once they start buying a few power tools. Would it be possible to Daisy chain a bunch of these smaller batteries together to build a small solar system to run your refrigerator on overnight?

Just thought it would make a cool video even if was to just disprove the idea.

Anyways keep up the good work! Glad to see people like you getting information out to people all over the world on solar systems.

Do these Valence batteries have an internal BMS that can be used? A web search comes back with "Valence Lithium Ion 138Ah batteries. Although these batteries do have an internal BMS they have to be activated and controlled by an external BMS."

May I suggest doing a test and review of the Limitless Cyber 12K batteries and and the Limitless Lithium Retro PRO 56 batteries, in addition perhaps also do a review of the XS 40-50Amp 12v batteries, etc. I have found these batteries to retain lots of power, but may not last as long of a life as these other Lithium batteries. Perhaps do a breakdown tutorial of the different types of batteries that would be suitable for certain usage types for example from RV/Solar stand-alone batteries, to high voltage draw batteries that likely used for competition car audiophiles. IMO, it would be great if there was an updated tutorial that would help users be able to configure a proper standalone LTO or LiFePO4 battery system that could not only have a battery delete, but insite in properly isolating a battery system for example on an RV which has a large 3000-5000W sound system. Knowing the difference in safety features and which batteries are ideal to use for high wattage use and knowing when a Pure Sine Wave power inverter is ideal to use for certain batteries. I just wish many LTO LiFePO4 batteries had a battery management system, but the key thing is to understand as well would be when these added features can end up becoming more of a problem vs. a benefit when truly tested in real life. I do love your video tutorials, however, I feel you can certainly help others expand their knowledge more if you are willing to widen your scope on already tried yet untested new vs well-known Lithium battery producers with safety always the main focus. With so many battery makers and some not even providing specs for there batteries, including tested wattage draw, I feel that you might expand your viewers even more with more similar battery tutorial videos. Remember, going cheaper on battery technology doesn’t ALWAYS mean safer/quality products. For example, it would be great if you showed your viewers how to create their own stand alone solar system for like a Subaru Outback or Jeep for those who truly love the outdoors, but would also enjoy solar powered battery system reliability.

So I ordered 2 from your link: Valence 40ah both used. When they arrived I realized I should've only bought 1. The reason: 1 was charged(green light) with all the cables and connections but the other... dead as could be and obviously the shipper knew that. The cables were cut and pulled apart at their bases so no way to connect with other battery unless I purchased brand new cables and connectors. I can't even charge it!

I’m having difficulty but followed instructions correctly and I can’t connect to shore and my batteries drain fast and charge slow. Even with the alternator connection. If someone knows who can help I would greatly appreciate it. I don’t have local resources where I live.
