Why Outer Wilds Is So Awesome (No Spoilers)

I honestly do not understand the appeal of games like this. Games (or any media), need a hook, something to get you invested in the story and the world. Something that happens in the first 10 minutes. This game has none of that. You're thrown in a bog standard Unity asset flip world with lifeless signpost NPCs and expected to walk/fly around aimlessly figuring out something to do. If that's not a walking simulator, I don't know what is. You're spoon fed a tiny bit of story at the beginning about ancient aliens, which is such a tired overused trope that I really couldn't care less about it. I was bored out of my mind playing this game.

outer wild has no save cause its all a hillucination i believe this game is a mustery you sorta find a meaning for yourself in a puzzle with whormholes ... this is best for explorers and curosity .

How hard are the puzzles? That's the one thing that's kept me from trying the game is that it's so puzzle based.

I was disappointed by the conclusion to the "mystery", but I can't say any more without entirely spoiling the game.

I played this a year ago for the first time and in VR. Loved the vibe, the melancholy of it. Insane game. Trying to convince my friends to play it now.

Just started playing, and it is mega goofy. It’s definitely a good game, but I still don’t yet know why people say it’s so good.

The beginning was so trash, they didn't tell you anything helpful. Not a single bit of voice over makes it worse. Make games with voice, even if it is only a few speakers, I hate reading.
I have tried this game a few times and it just doesn't do it for me. Again, fuck not having voice.

I haven't heard of this game before but I seen the great reviews on steam so I thought I'd check it out but after the hype you gave it in the into I won't watch this video and play it knowing nothing

Literally my favorite game of all time. I have an Eye of the Universe symbol tattooed on my back.

Also, this literally does not matter at all and is extremely pedantic, but- the ship does not have unlimited fuel. However, it has SO MUCH fuel you'd have to really try to run out.

I really wanted to love this game. It looks so good, but I'm an old guy, and the controls for flying are just too difficult for me. Sad to say that after installing and trying it a couple times, I just had to give it up.. :(

I've brought this game due its overwhelming positive steam reviews. But honestly its looks and plays like shit, and your video is not getting me interested in it

I honestly found this game to be pretty boring. I appreciate the setup and how it is cool to fly around to different places and watch planets dynamically change, but every time I saw something cool, a strange structure, crashed ship etc., I'd go over to it and every time be disappointed and underwhelmed at what I found.

Sometimes, I'd get stuck in a place where getting out was a pain in the butt. As I was struggling to get out I was aware that exploring this place rewarded me with just a tablet, but surely it has a cool purpose. I'd then find a place to use it just to find out it just gives me more dialog about something that's really not that interesting.

For me, most of what I played was getting stuck in places or exploring areas just to get underwhelming rewards over and over.

You've never seen a game like this before? Well, no mans sky, astroneer, etc exist, but outer wilds does do it way more interesting with better characters, but its not like a brand new genre like you seem to say

“Only limited ressource is time” -what? 🤣😂 that’s the worst limited ressource in a game -sounds like timed missions, and I hate that.
