umm, first of all welcome to another pinned; it's always so touchy having you here
1 this video features role-playing, never forget that!
2 unfortunately not getting COSMIC in a hardware installation, makes really impossible to actually review it; i just can show a few things..
3 i havented follow the project on Github for a while, so im not sure about the latest commits, so that video only features whats currently on popos repos; but i can tell they dont provide daily builds; but i will most probably keep updating, coz im interested on the project my self
PS1 i spend 3hrs for doing cloths physics, all for having a proper Nick's tshirt, but in the end i had to drop it; but i know, Mii needs clioth physcs!!
PS2 my second largest video after the one 30min (??) with Deepin; for GNOME? i very much doubt i have done anything bigger than 5!!
i tried to use cosmic on my pop install and it was so slow and sluggish it basicaly froze, how can I fix this
Ответитьvtubers have arrived in the linux space, we love to see it!
Ответитьyou're cool, I love your content
ОтветитьThere will be some good news about the COSMIC Store soon. Benchmarks are looking great right now compared to KDE Discover and GNOME Software.
Ответитьhow do you mean we dont need desktop development in 2025 ??
ОтветитьSo, it's the Cosmetic first, Cosmic audio seconds? XD
Ответитьlove your shirt :)
ОтветитьVan a desaparecer los WM si no se adaptan a Wayland
Ответитьim ok with the swearing it can stay, i prefer it actually
ОтветитьIt's always funny to see people talking shit when they see an open development showcasing ALPHA builds thinking this is anything close to be released in the future. These people are the reason why people put notices saying "This does not represent the final product".
ОтветитьSeems like it's going to be Gnome 3 but with design ideas from WM rices out of the box and better performance thanks to Rust.
I kinda like it, now just give me a toggle for turning off animations and I'll actually have a reason to switch to wayland lol.
please never stop swearing, thanks
ОтветитьPop Os 24.04 will ship with Gnome and have early access to Cosmic. Hopefully by the time that 26.04 arrive it will only be Cosmic.
ОтветитьMii is gonna switched to COSmiiC in future, if everything goes well with this project
ОтветитьWait are you using an AI voice?
ОтветитьYou finally got some views. Time to milk the topic! ^.^
ОтветитьI watch you gradually go insane and even fanatical in front of my eyes. Idk if this is good or bad and I don't want to determine it.
ОтветитьI use Xfce but I want to switch to COSMIC when it is viable. I also can't wait for this channel to become a COSMIC channel.
ОтветитьThe screenshots for Reddit are going to be great. About functionality, we will obviously see about them some day...
Ответитьcan we get the shirt in your merch shop?
ОтветитьI'm feeling like Peter Griffin right now, I don't think I can wait any longer, but I will anyway.
ОтветитьI don't get why they went for a window menu bar if they are taking a macos-like layout. Why not just do a global menu? Seems like a wasted oportunity to save some screen real state. Plus it makes windows look cleaner
Ответитьwhy does this look like a 14 yo first hyprland rice
ОтветитьBut does it have 20° degree screen rotation option?
ОтветитьIs this a Vtuber that's actually powered by an AI that reads something that was translated from another language?
Ответитьit is great that Linux has been stepping up with this. The major problem though is video driver being compatible. It is a short list of video cards supported with Linux. And it is a short list.
Ответитьprecious
ОтветитьGreat video! Personally, I can't wait for COSMIC desktop to come out.
Question, can you give me a link to the wallpaper, because it's great <3
i really dig the portal umbrela that starts in one place and ends in another
ОтветитьCOSMIC is not yet an alpha. It is funded, organized, designed, and developed entirely by the COSMIC team at System76. We have mostly been working on building our platform toolkit and compositor over the last two years, so the possibility for community involvement only recently became possible. So it is not unusual that most of the work is being done by System76 employees in the COSMIC team instead of community volunteers. Though I'd still expect our full time developers to be putting in most the work regardless because volunteer work is not paid work.
A few people have tested the waters by submitting translations or an applet or two in the past, but most of them have been waiting until we release the alpha before they get more involved. Now that we have a functional prototype for a text editor, terminal, and file manager; there's been an uptick in community involvement. There are now some tangible projects that people outside of our team can work with.
Tbh, for a DE that is kind of entirely done from scratch, not only does look awesome, it brings this sense of curiosity that what else can they do if it gives them just two more years. I will 100℅ use it when it comes out
ОтветитьLooking good, I can't wait for Cosmic, I will certainly replace Hyprland
ОтветитьHi hi I don't really care because GNOME is love GNOME is life BUT BUT BUT WHERE DO I GET THAT MERCH THAT SHIRT IS SO COOL DID YOU CUSTOM MAKE IT IT'S GORJUS
ОтветитьHow is she holding that umbrella?
ОтветитьThe menus in the header bar are incapable of being used in applications with complex menus (the GNOME guidelines are even worse). So if you can't use this guideline in every application what's the point of using it in the first place? Your system is always going to be inconsistent!
ОтветитьRemember, it took over 15 years for both Gnome and KDE to become somewhat decent and usable + useful. Because even around 2018, both sucked, and only Unity stuck up.
Cosmic on the other hand is relatively fast development speed and it's should be stable to use around 2025.
Nick looks like an alternate from The Mandela Catalogue on that shirt, lol, was that on purpose?
ОтветитьI'm very excited about cosmic. I think the pace will increase as soon they complete the foundation. There were so many things lacking in the iced side. But they are getting there. Still, a lot to do, even for an alpha release.
ОтветитьThis is a moot discussion yet, as COSMIC is pre alpha stage software.
Let's get back to it when it hits beta or RC.
now I'm on cinnamon I love it so much when cosmic is stable I will defiantly switch to it
Ответитьif GNOME 3 wasn't there, there wouldn't have been many GNOME 2s.
ОтветитьLol at the hate each other comment, be careful new people might actually believe that
ОтветитьJust a small correction: System76 said COSMIC is now "on the road to alpha", they don't call it in alpha yet ^^
I genuinely think that COSMIC can become the next big DE alongside Gnome and KDE, but we'll have to wait & see. I personally am very excited about it :)
Wow, thanks! I didn't realize it's still so undone.
ОтветитьI guess Brodie will have many Cosmic bugs to read on his channel, can't wait!
ОтветитьWhat is this childish stuff!
