When our daughter got her license, I had her write STUDENT DRIVER with her left hand on big white paper and put it on the back window of the car. Why? Because her first time on the freeway it took five city exits to merge one lane! I taught her THE LADY DI WAVE, stick your arm out the window and start waving it to tell them you are merging…the blinker just didn’t work for this girl! She was yummy, but NO street smarts. When I asked her to check the rear view mirror, she checked it to see if she had enough lipstick on……”yeah, I’m ready.” She lives on her own and is too afraid to come home in case she has to help vacuum! She is really mean too!

Even if you are beaten down, a kid that talks to you like that is not entitled to your hard-earned money to pay for her fun at college. If she is so smart and resourceful, she will find a way to work and pay for her education. There was a huge "beaten down" difference in the was I was raised as the eldest of four and what the two last ones got away with because I was the one beaten. I really hope this is all part of the act.
