As someone who grew up with this show and now in my 20s it's scary to me how I watched this and other young girls watched this thinking manipulation and toxicity was normal and ok. Yes, we make mistakes and we're more naive when we're younger but the sorta fixes or consequences at the end of the stories didn't really connect the dots for me as a younger kid (idk if it's just me) and for me it normalized concerning behavior in relationships at a early age, and it didn't help I didn't have a model of healthy relationships in my family either.

What bugs the hell out of me is that when Mason turns into a wolf, he has to hobble out into the forest, but clearly, there was always a way to turn him back. The country wizards didn't invent a new way to transform him back into his original form. If the country wizards had invented that, Justin would have had no resources to research on how to transform him back. So why didn't anybody say "Let' just adopt him as a wolf, put him in a cage, and see if there's a way to change him back." There are very few things more frustrating than that garbage cop-out. The other cop-out being angels of darkness can just give a vampire their powers back to look young again.

Werewolves can stop aging in Twilight actually, so they’re maybe going for that. Like, I think the mechanic was that if they’re transforming actively, they hit puberty hard and then don’t age, but if they stop being wolfy, they can age with your partner.

Okay, i do love most your videos but I think this one y'all might be a bit bias towards mason because of the love for dean. y'all also a bit bias because of the love of alex so much. I feel Alex was really insensitive toward mason just as much and he was annoying. Like if were gonna give alex a pass for being 16 shouldn't we mason?! also I dont think her and dean would be a good match by the end because I belive she out grew him. Like the last date they had really showed she ]s changed what she wanted in a partner over the time. I will say I do agree with what you said about mason but I think were way to hard on mason but not alex. I will never forget how gut wrenching it was for me to see mason get on his knees and profess his love for Juliet, I think that’s one of the first times I ever deeply empathized with alex on the show

As much as I hate clingy Mason and his not respecting her consent I do have to say that is what a lovesick loyal dog would do. Again still hate it but if we’re going to explain/excuse some of Mason’s earlier behavior due to his canine mentality it needs to extend here as well.

My question is as an adult, if Alex decides not to be a wizard anymore, why does the love and romance counsel have a say in her relationship with Mason? I understand they’re trying to protect her, but it’s still confusing why the chancellor has the power to make them break up? Like I wanna know what the consequences of Alex just saying “No, don’t tell me what to do.”

With the revival showing that that Alex isn't a wizard or with Juliette anymore, I hope you have a video on those two coming up

a lot of the issues with their relationship can just be pointed back to "disney channel sitcom writing", and especially back then, it was not that Great, and tacked on that this was a comedy first and foremost, That didn't help, either.

I always loved Dean while Mason serious stressed me out. I never really got on board with Mason, and hated how the Dean incident convinced Alex to choose Mason. Mason straight up ate a dude because he was jealous and I’m supposed to be on board with that?

Mason definitely has his problems but I do love the good moments so much! Plus, as much as I love Dean, and it would have been pretty good drama in the show, if Dean stayed the main love interest Alex couldn't really have become the family wizard in the end and SHE DESERVED TO!

how was any of this toxic? This was just a long rant about which relationship you liked the most...I kept watching waiting for you to start talking about the actual issues with the show. "toxic" means like the relationship was abusive, or gross in some other way. Besides the absurdity of them apparently killing some people, these seem to be normal relationships (and I chalk the killing people up to just the fantasy element of it, and apparently they save the dude he ate anyway? haha)

So what I'm learning is that Dean was done incredibly dirty by the writers and is, in fact, best boy.

The way Disney gaslighted me into rooting for them as a kid (I was like 8), now I see how toxic they really were. Yet they still have a special place in my heart. The dance scene, the hart necklace, and rain kiss still live in my head rent free.
