Yep. My step-dad was in sanitation work for the town of Beech Mountain. And the things those folks tossed out. One time he collected basically an entire home...stove counteracts, towels, vacuum cleaner, sofa, chairs, drapes, blankets, etc. Why the massive overhaul? The wife of the home owner bought new doilies and the rest of the house clashed with that color.

Working at Canadian Tire, a department store.. I was in the warehouse so I had to destroy all the product people returned..
So sickening what we had to toss because people damaged it themselves or just didn’t know how to use it. I even had to destroy product before because it didn’t have instructions in Chinese lol. Such a waste. (Recalled items)
Luckily now we can go thru it, see what’s good n works and we can sell it as a non-returnable item.
Some tools have lifetime warranty so just by bringing ur old tool back you’ll get a brand new one in the box.
