Next time check your mic level. Your voice is super quiet compared to the tracks. You're an audio engineer. This is stuff you know.

Any tips for making adding drive/distortion to a guitar recording with too little drive/distortion while keeping it sounding real/natural?

You should do the majority of EQ during tracking. Whether that be guitar/amp selection, amp EQ, mic selection/placement. EQ after tracking will impart harmonics.

Maybe an unpopular opinion here but to me this tone sounds fantastic. It's a few years old but can you please describe the setup? Amp, mic, signal chain etc. Thanks.

There is a synth in logic that sounds exactly like this guitar tone.

That tone probably should've been fixed during tracking. After the tweaks it's just a different version of bad. IMO.

Might just be me, but even after the EQ there's a nasty top end fizz happening.

Starting to mix them in mono another great trick, panning them should come last. I used to make the mistake of panning first then doing High low pass filters.
