i built an ivy deck with the usual auras mutate stuff but also a bunch of cantrips and holy hell did i draw CARDS
ОтветитьOkay but like... if somebody casts something like Doom Blade, or Swords to Plowshares, or Path to Exile on another creature.... doesn't that also get copied onto Ivy and she just pops?
ОтветитьYeah but have you ever paired this with Vesuvan Duplimancy?
ОтветитьShe...works with...mutate 😮
ОтветитьGood example of mental doubling Botanical Brawler who says that whenever any other creature you have gets a +1/+1 counter this is a PER CREATURE trigger which means if you have say 10 other creatures and then you play say Invasion of Moag the brawler gets 11 counters because it gets one from the card and then it gets another one from each other creature yes these guys do trigger each other so let’s rewind say instead you have 5 creatures 4 or which are brawlers and you give that 5th one a counter each brawler gets a counter for that but then they all activate each other getting counters for each other brawler that just got one now it’s only the first instance of each creature getting a counter each turn but still also did I mention they cost 1 green and 1 white and also they have trample cathar’s crusade and quirrian beastcaller anyone? Why not through some gleam of authority on that shit to now let’s also get proliferating in this bitch
ОтветитьAsking for a roast for Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Torbran, Thane of Red Fell. Day 32 of asking
ОтветитьBut CAN SHE GET IT?
ОтветитьWhat are you talking about, she costs Green/Blue, not Black/Red/Red/Red/Red/Red
ОтветитьI was looking for Ivy lore on Google found this instead. Worth it
Ответитьivy + twinning staff, Vesuvan Duplimancy, Volo Guide to Monsters. go big, go wide. do it *all*.
Ответитьand in standard she does all the doubling+resiliency nonsense for the most goddamn annoying poison deck ever - Rotpriest, whose wincon is protection spells that also brick interaction
ОтветитьI find it interesting that she is called spell thief when she really isn't actually stealing anything. the original is retained she just gets one of her own. kinda reminds me of spies in civilization V, everyone always flips out when you "steal" thier tech but technically you are only copying thier homework not stealing thiers no thievery done.
Ответить2 cost is really fast for getting a doubler out
ОтветитьMade an opponent rage quit with 6 Ivy's on the board 😂
ОтветитьActually it goes Gggguuuuuuuuuuu
ОтветитьAll of this is spot-on. What's more, Ivy is an incredibly fun commander to play and to play against.
ОтветитьBro didn’t even mention how mutate gets around the legend rule so you can copy ivy and get even more shinanagins
ОтветитьJust found this clip, didn't realize it was from 2 months ago and inwas wondering where the "could she get it" segment was
Ответитьlmao i never noticed the "may" part so i had just assumed that sac outlets or literally any form of targeted creature removal would obliterate her
ОтветитьThis video just taught me that this card exists and now I want to build a commander deck around it.
ОтветитьHow convenient that my opponent has two eyeballs to flick
ОтветитьI built my ivy deck to just copy lots of spells, cause stacking auras and mutates onto her just makes her a massive removal target - I'd rather use Saint Traft for enchantments cause he can't get hit by (Targeted) removal.
(also there's tons of cards that say "buff target creature, draw a card" which Ivy then copies, drawing you an additional card. so running 20 1-cost buff&draw spells works wonders!)
Ivy is my 5 color mutate 99. I have to have multiple copies of each mutate card in a different sleeve but THANK GOODNESS mutate cards are very cheap.
Ответитьhey I already know the answer, cuz she can get it for sure, but she can get it right?
ОтветитьThis card plus Rotpriest is autistic af (coming from the autistic mtg player)
ОтветитьAnd don't forget the ideal mutate target in an Ivy deck.... Scute Swarm.^^
May god have mercy on your soul if THIS monstrosity sticks on the field long enough to start copying itself.
The only real weakness of Ivy is that it copies EVERY single target spell. If someone casts a single-target kill or exile spell, unless Ivy has hexproof or shroud, she's dying, which means that you NEED lightning greaves on her so you don't accidentally get rid of the work you put into building her up if you do a single-target removal or flicker spell (admittedly, blue and green have fairly limited options for these, but it's still possible)
ОтветитьMy historic brawl deck has an 85% win rate. In 1v1s she’s dirty
ОтветитьI have this deck irl and must warn folks: this deck has to concentrate on 1 opponent, you cant really afford to divide damage and because of that it could be frustrating for your friends to play against you.
ОтветитьI just swarm them with pest tokens
ОтветитьAnother fun thing is that she works well in team games. You can share your beneficial spells with an opponent and still get them for yourself!
ОтветитьYou You realize that mutate can be put on all unblockable creatures making the big creature. Unblockable my mutate duck is fast as f*** like stupid fast because you can't block it
ОтветитьAll I think of when I see Ivy is "Attack of the Clones". What is better than one copy? MORE COPIES!
ОтветитьMe playing ivy, croaking counterpart, and venerated rot priest on arena just quadrupling toxic counters
ОтветитьI love this longerish form explainer! Please do more, my good man, I would consume said content.
ОтветитьTalking about doubling, please do a review/roast on Magus Luca Kane. I am a Magus player and I can admit there is a huge level of bs abuse I do with that deck
ОтветитьAs a non Magic player, I literally understood all of that. That was a masterclass in explaining to the uninitiated. Well done.
ОтветитьI just love drawing 2 cards for 1 mana, I just run a ton of cantrips in mine until I run into colossification
ОтветитьI had an Ivy mutate deck and I can confirm that you can only win by dealing psychic damage to you and your opponents, since you can mutate things on top of Ivy, making her no longer Legendary, and you can then make persistent copies of her. I had to scrap the deck because it's impossible to keep track of what each Ivy truly is. even Arena has a hard time keeping track of Ivy if you make mutated copies.
ОтветитьMutate secks are slow. This is why my mutate deck uses 1/1 unblockable creatures as the base for mutate. I don't get as many mutate triggers, but multiple unblockable stompers gets hard to deal with.
ОтветитьAlso she turns all those 1-2 mana green and blue cantrip auras/instants into +1 card advantage
ОтветитьMy bestie got an ivy and he’s been on the fence due to majority of his decks consisting of Simic. I think it’d be ton of fun.
ОтветитьYou gave me an idea
ОтветитьAlso, it can pop off so hard with spells that copy creatures. Mutate Ivy so she isn't legendary, then just start casting cards like Cackling Counterpart on your secondary creature to make a copy of both things. Flash it back or cast another one, and now you've got an exponentially growing board of mutated Ivys.
Ответитьplayed a game with TWO Ivy players... ugh.... I'm glad there wasn't a Feather player on the same table.
ОтветитьYour mtg insight. Your ability to meme. Bro. You are an excellent representative of a MTG content creator…
Tell me…
Why does red get shit on out of all the colors?
Oh... I might need to watch out for her as a Feather player.
ОтветитьRun infect creatures with Aura Voltron Ivy. Corrupted Conscience slaps especially hard when when you yoink the opponents flier/commander to give it as well as Ivy infect.
ОтветитьIt gets pretty crazy with some of the cloning effects with mutate because Ivy that has something mutated over it is no longer legendary
Ответить
