Everything you said goes for whole Europe. Germans do look a bit bored at the concerts, but there is a reason for that - they have concerts weekly. In order to experience total mayhem, you should attend some smaller concerts (festivals), especially in eastern countries where people are still "hungry for metal". I would highly recommend you come to Slovenia for MetalDays festival . (unfortunately it has been canceled this year due to Covid situation :(

Scandinavia is what I think of when I think metal. The problem with America is it is still seems to be pretty prudish. Also the country music scene is still pretty strong not sure if thats a good thing or not. Metal in my experience is by word of mouth and internet searching/chatting with people from around the world. Most of my metal finds are from talking to an Irish friend.

Not really like listening to metal, but I have a lot of friends that do and everytime I'm out with them for a drink, going to a bar, have a party etc. I feel safe and happy because I know none of them will make trouble or start a fight (which I cannot guarantee for other groups when they are drunk). It's always a fun and relaxed environment where people love to have fun - while looking scary to someone who doesn't know :-) So I can just agree to those who wrote it's a family and I can add that this family is usually wecloming all kinds of people and not excluding them (at least that how I experienced it).

its so strange that - depending on that topic - the US is rly lacking that acceptance of people who enjoy metal lol
I mean i know the us aint the best place to be tbh.. cuz the system is so fucked up and people kinda get trained to be stupid (not their fault) but I thought in germany/europe we're intolerant sometimes lol

i was with my Family at a Fastival in Leibzig. (we were celling stuff there) and a Group of metal Heads came to our Tent. and they saw my little brother.(he was 3 years old)
normals he really does not like strangers, but he looked at this Metal Hads, smiled and just huged them. that was so sweet.

Totally agree about the friendliness in the German metal scene, European metal scenes in general.. I’m from the Middle East, went to Wacken 2015, within 30 minutes of me walking in, I was already cracking beers with a bunch of German metalheads in their caravan tent!!

Every time we go to a festival, we first drive to Holland or Belgium to buy beer (we live near by), we are are buying several more cans than we actually need. After we set up camp at the festival (Summer Breeze in my case), we open the trunk of the VW T3 and offer ice cold beer to total strangers. Some are confused, but most of them stopped what they were doing, come to us, cracked a cold one, sit down and had a pleased talk. We don't care who they are, or where they are from, because metalheads are family! We met some pretty amazing guys and girls with intesresting stories to tell.

I remember SummerBreeze last year (2019), there was a guy with a BIG backpack, sweating, looking tired as f*ck walking past our camp, after we offered him a cold beer, his face brightend up and he was absolutly thankful - thats it, thats why we are doing it. \m/

Reading all these comments and listening to you, I believe that normal Germans (that we like to call Ottonormalbürger) are less friendly than metalheads. And when it comes to my personal opinion and experience, I totally agree. The disrespect "normal people" sometimes give to metalheads, rockers, punks, gay or whatever people just shows how not grown up their mindset is.

I doubt that any of your US Friends will fly to Europe... dont understand why you just speak english but hey: About "Loosing Up": We got Wacken.. intented by some Friends at "Wacken" (the Village has the same Namen) who had NO METAL FESTIVAL CLOSE TO THEM and in a Bar the "decided" to make up Europes (ok now World biggest) metal Festival....

yo, glad i found this channel, Horns up yo! Here in L.A. audiences for metal are usually pretty good, depends on venue a lot.

My cousin plays in cerebal incubation it's more of Slam metal band and that fest he played gave me a culture shock! people naked! dildos everywhere ! Kinda like a metal rave .I felt so old! 🤣 what the fuck you kids doing ? Then origin played later and then I was into it ! My area (ruhrpott) has so much good shows I'm in heaven ! But get weirded out when everyone stands there .. feels awkward.. I heard sweden shows it's the same maybe judging on techniques?

I'm half German/Polish....I love Rammstein and Behemoth. I also Love Love Jinjer....I'd move to Germany in a heartbeat....if I could.
