Id rather have the oak then the lead personally
ОтветитьI'm told the painter in this one is actually Ruth's husband, and with the book-binder being their daughter, I think that's so cool, a whole family of history-lovers,
ОтветитьWhen a juicy eel slumps out the trap and he's looking keen😲
ОтветитьFun fact: Ruth's last name Goodman is actually short for "Good-at-everything-woman". I want to be her when I grow up.
ОтветитьGotta admit, that brewet with the eels actually looks delicious.
(I have no idea how to spell that word so please tell me if it’s spelled differently)
Lucky to share a bed with Peter 😂
ОтветитьThanks.
ОтветитьRuth still got me bricked up
ОтветитьHow ironic that she used a true-to-period word to describe her sliced eel and called the bits “Bobbits”
When hundreds of years later Mrs. Bobbit, sliced Mr. Bobbit’s eelish-type bit off
Ha! We've finally discovered Ruth's kryptonite. Eels! Hilarious.
ОтветитьI WANT MORE OF THIS!! AND RUTH AND THE GANG!
ОтветитьThe pigs aren't scavenging, there is pigfood on the floor ...
ОтветитьI'd like to hear more about the tools that would have been used in the mine in Tudor times - were iron or steel tools available - what was used to chisel out lead in Tudor times.
ОтветитьThe girl painting Tom was dissing him the whole time 😂😂
ОтветитьThey did a lot of work this episode! Nothing was easy to come by, all strenuous
ОтветитьThis is my favorite episode so far. The old ways of making metal are just so amazing. I wish I could have done this during Tudor times.
ОтветитьSo the church required them to eat fish, and then they charge the people to fish. What a scam.
ОтветитьI love this series but am frustrated by the auto-generated captions. I would love to see these CCed professionally instead. =(
ОтветитьHow many stars are we lookin at? 4 I can see them through the roof. I just died laughing
ОтветитьUgh...river eels...I'd eat them if desperate with no pleasure...give me Trout or any other edible fish anyday...
ОтветитьNo way you'd get me crawling in an unsupported abandoned mine, not even for telly...
ОтветитьProof time travel does exist.
ОтветитьIf they actually did the work and ate only the period foods they would have lost weight and gained muscle.
Ответитьobsessed with this series! Ruth is just amazing
ОтветитьI've learned so much in this series, from Ruth in particular. She's taught me I need to steam my oven to get my bread to rise, to make melomel from my parents overripe garden peaches instead of throwing them out, to put my starter under the same peach tree to supercharge my yeast, and so much more. I even roast my hotdogs and marshmallows in front of instead of over the fire now. My mom used to think I was nuts: now if I make a cooking or baking suggestion she asks if it's a medieval farm thing, and then just does it.
ОтветитьI wonder how many people drank the rain water that came from those lead roofs.
ОтветитьThis is one of my favorite channels for sure!!!!!
ОтветитьSmall wonder not many lived past 40. And probably glad of it.
ОтветитьInterestingly, Ruth's dish of eel with beer and herbs is still quite common in Eastern Germany, where eel is still a big delicacy- Aal grün mit Spreewaldsauce. It's possible it was introduced by the Hugenots, since it also exists in Belgium, where it's called called Paling in 't groen.
ОтветитьI love these reenactments, these are so cool. While it seems like life would have been extremely difficult, everyone seems so happy to be past the first attack of the plague. I cant even imagine.
ОтветитьSuch quality documentaries this lot make! Love it, and Ruth is just a lovely! More of this, please!
ОтветитьWhen they showed the fire that was used to melt the lead. It made me realize how hot they could probably get them when they were burning people at the stake! FUCK!
😐😐😐
Better them than me!
ОтветитьInteresting that the pronunciation of solder includes the ‘L’ in British English, but not in American English.
ОтветитьI thought it was just toms shirt being stuffed, but gosh why is he so buff?? 😭😭
ОтветитьIn the intro, the agenda is pushed....On cue, soon as the narrator says Tudot, an african appears on screen....not by accident....So if you go to the US Library of Congress and research the homosexual manifesto you’ll run into statements stating how they will change society using psychological methods such as things mentioned above, and incrementalism....the chaos we witness is un natural as it gets...all engineered...
ОтветитьWith the way these three work at e every occupation there aren't enough hours in the day! Thanks for the education.
ОтветитьThe tudor times and the early industrial revolution seem to mark turning points in history. Each one was a significant step away from medieval period and into the modern world. Fascinating.
Ответить4 , I Can See Em Through The Roof...! LOLOLLOL!!!
ОтветитьAnyone else get massive goosebumps when she was cutting the glass? Ugh..I was cringing the whole time, wishing it was over. I enjoyed watching, but the sounds were KILLING me!
ОтветитьI'm all for historical reenactments but i would have noped right out of that lead mine and having to touch lead. Fuck that.
ОтветитьPeas are also legumes which have nitrogen fixing bacteria on their roots which help with the cereal crops if planted the next year.
ОтветитьRuth could step on me ngl
ОтветитьAnyone else feel like toms suffering from some mild leadpoisoning after the lead melting? Sure feels that way, sluring speach etc. in the fotage after the lead processing, you start to see it in the pub sence and forward.
ОтветитьIf they fast from meat... how can they eat fish?? what. So confused. fish are meat.
Ответить"How many stars?"
"4."
"4?"
"I can see 'em thru the roof."
That made me spit out my drink. Well played. :)
