IQ and the Big 5 personalities are the things you need to look at.
IQ = your ability to solve problems
IQ is mother nature's way of trying to counteract experience
So, gaining experience in a field is like a pseudo way of increasing your IQ pseudo because it only increases in that area not others. The gained experience can translate to other fields but the smallest decrease in similarity equals exponential decrease in the pseudo-IQ from the original field you gained your experience from.

Big 5 personalities that quote on quote affect this area we are talking about
Consciousness = orderliness and industrialness, your level of industrialness will dictate how many hours you will put into your goals and is more important than orderliness when it comes to a predictor for success.
Openness = Your ability to be able to see the beauty in things, people high in creativeness also love concept and ideas which would be Scientist/a very good trait to have high levels of if you're a scientist.
Introvert/low levels in Extrovert = you need this so you can spend hours alone studying.

I look at anything talent wise is the same as genetic gifts, so working hard/having high levels of consciousness is a talent for the comments section below. To add to that being able to work hard is the same genre of talent as being super creative/High in openness.

It’s very hard for me to digest the phrases “work hard and you’ll improve” and “if you’re truly passionate about something and put your mind to it, you’ll get it”. Yet I have been told when I’m struggling to learn something, “oh, well maybe it’s not for you…” or “apparently you’re not trying hard enough”, or blatantly, “I think you should stop, you’re not getting this and there’s not enough time to keep helping you”. I just remember thinking multiple times, “I’m truly passionate about what I’m learning and using multiple methods and resources to learn and I’m even tutoring others, but why is that I’m not at all even close to getting the results I want? ie “What can’t I get above a damn C in this class?”

I mean, yes, this is true for practice and skill mastery. But that guy saying "I can't get enough done with a 7 day week" clearly doesn't understand the motivations and realities of life for most people. Most people aren't trying to enslave themselves for someone else's company

As much as I would love to agree with him but reaching elite of the level is not for the average person , Hard work is absolutely not dodge able in that level to be good for average people and same goes for elites but the outcome of the hard work is where you see genetics play.

It's funny that people mention talent being a key component to getting where you want, not realising that a lack of passion or self-belief to actually try, is also a lack of talent.

This is very true. Education these days is too much focussed on “selecting brilliant kids”, while it’s actually a self fulfilling prophecy. Kids that are perceived as brilliant get more attention, start believing they are brilliant and then either work hard to meet the expectations or try to keep up appearances and become miserable adults who pretend to be smart, but are just as stupid as anyone else.

8 hours per day of intense focus and work will get you to that 10,000 hour mark in 3.5 years. Few people can handle that kind of work load. 1 hour per day on a given subject will get you there in just under 28 years. If you work 8 hours, you can set aside time in the early morning before work and time when you get home. 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening (4 hours per day) will get you to that 10,000 hour mark in 7 years. With that, I'm getting off here and getting back to work for another hour of self-study.

Such an insightful video! Richard Feynman’s approach to studying is pure genius—understanding concepts deeply and explaining them in simple terms really sticks. His method is not only effective but also makes studying more enjoyable and less overwhelming. This video is a game changer for anyone looking to study smarter, not harder. Definitely going to apply the Feynman technique to my own learning!

Honestly helped me unlike a lot of videos cause I was kinda moping around earlier about not being a genius, and having difficulty memorizing things etc. and this just encouraged me that no matter who you are, that hard work is what truly matters. So now I’m going to spend more time writing, which is what I love to do, and pursuing intellectual interests of mine. I have a curious mind and I have finally decided to satisfy it.

He’s right in one sense, hard work is key to getting the job done. Regardless of one’s intelligence, but what he’s not taking into consideration is this: when we’re talking about things like einsteins theory of relativity or hawkings theory about black holes, this is something that takes an EXCEPTIONAL level of IQ in order to grapple and come to terms with. These people were branded as geniuses for a very good reason because they were far more intelligent than the majority of us. I don’t think that you or I or most people reading this right now was intelligent enough at the age of 10 to teach themselves calculus at a university level, but you know who was? Einstein. I’m not exceptionally intelligent at all, as a matter of fact I can barely concentrate for more than an hour at a time, but I apply myself to my work and achieve the best that I can. And my best will never be as good as a Nobel prize winning scientists best. Simply because I don’t possess the IQ to understand what they can. So on one hand he’s saying that hard work and study is the key to achieving (which goes for us all regardless of our ability), but when he said that it doesn’t take someone of exceptional intelligence to figure out quantum mechanics and make new scientific discoveries that’s where I disagree with him.
