I know this opinion wont be that popular but really a C8 would be a better daily driver car plus fun track focused weekend warrior, which is the metric i use. I cant afford a really nice daily and a weekend/track car, only one that does both.
ОтветитьLotus is known for it's handling, Manufacturers reach out to Lotus to improve their cars's handling.
ОтветитьThe supra should have had this engine setup
ОтветитьI don't get the borderline hate for "A Toyota Camry Powertrain." A V6 is a V6, it doesn't matter if my mom knitted it together in her rocking chair, it's going to have a better low end than a flat 6.
Also, why would I be upset about a powertrain in my car that is mass produced, widely available, (mods, you say?), probably much more durable, and definitely eons cheaper to maintain (or heck, even replace) than the european stuff that, let's be honest, is probably way more engineered for failure than we want to think about?
Simply put, well done, Lotus. Not for everyone...but for the driver.
Why would lotus go to electric? They make the most fun gas cars on the road. I want a orange Emira so bad!
ОтветитьThe fact that this comes in a manual with these specs is amazing.
ОтветитьThe touring suspension is excellent, the gear change gets better with miles, Lotus has finance at last, so within Warranty don’t see the risk.
Ответитьcan be confused with one of the countless Ferrari models
Ответить“Last gasoline ever”. Will never happen
ОтветитьEmira in Arabic "أميرة" means Princess, this is definitely aptly named
ОтветитьGorgeous car
ОтветитьToo much talking holy cow
ОтветитьThe Supra should have had this powertrain
ОтветитьI like how you can see the throttle cable moving 😂
ОтветитьLost me on “Camry”
Ответитьlooks like a baby mclaren :))
ОтветитьThis is not a Lotus!
This is a Chinacar knockoff.
End the CCP.
109k for 400hp 🤣🤡
ОтветитьLast Lotus gas car? We will see...
ОтветитьFor God's sake... Pick up the damn cage.
ОтветитьLotus GB - Toyota 😂
ОтветитьIf only I had extra money just sitting around. Evira in a heartbeat for a true 2 seater sports car.
ОтветитьThe G-Meter seems to be a bit off
ОтветитьSaying nothing was carried over from the Evora except the motor is not entirely accurate. The chassis is virtually the same. Suspension as well. Motor and transmission as well. So what is truly new? Basically the body shape and interior. Now, if Lotus would just make them available in the USA soon, all will be great!
ОтветитьReally Doug? Lotus as a brand is questionable? That isn't a bit of Porsche snobbery showing, is it? Porsche just celebrated it's 75th here at Monterey Car Week. Lotus is 75 too, but wasn't launched as a sub-brand of a soon-to-be global automaker. For a niche maker, Lotus has the right relationships, developed and sold tens of thousands of Elises and its variants, Evoras, and built the Elise-based Tesla roadster, which launched that brand. Even the first Hennessey Venom was Elise-based. They have supported and had race teams since the beginning, have a profitable engineering group, and now have better financial backing to carry it to the next level. Dealer network, yeah, you're probably right, but unless they sell in Porsche volumes (Porsche's strength and downside at the same time), there's not much incentive to dealers to have dedicated shops. But who wouldn't be willing to go cross country in a car with a Toyota drivetrain, with the reliability of hundreds of thousands, probably millions, built. And why use something exotic when a Toyota can produce 400 hp from 3.5L? The 2nd gen Elise proved Toyota is the way to go. If you think the Emira is missing distinct Lotus brand design features, put it (and Eletre) side by side next to the halo Evija. Speaking of Eletre, Lotus, like like Porsche and Lamborghini, will be selling SUV's that people buy, in order to build the cars people want. Looks like a pretty sound business plan, not a questionable, will-they-be-around-in-7-years sort of outfit.
ОтветитьThere s also Alpine in same segment . I love Lotus, and the sport heritage of the brand. sorry to hear Doug not even mentioning that and describin Lotus as strange brand. Porsche as perfect mechanical toy is also properly boring - sorry to say :)
ОтветитьA great car.
As usual from Doug, a rather poor review. Sharing switchgear from common brands is not a result of globalization - it's been common for the last 50 years. Ferrari - Fiat. Lotus - Ford/ GM, etc, etc.
His review is so underwhelming for a car that is so exciting to drive. Seriously, what is wrong with him?
Check out Harry's Garage review for this car and forget Doug de Muro.
If you invest in one .. would this go up in price once Lotus no longer wants to make gasoline powered engines??
ОтветитьImagine paying around £80k and getting a sports car that is made with parts that are in soccer-mom Vovlo and an engine from a car that people make fun of you if you own one. It's true. Money does make you dumber the more you have.
Ответитьthe return of the last Lotus non EV cars…
ОтветитьThis is what Toyota Supra should have been.
ОтветитьWhy lotus name all their cars starting with the letter E?
ОтветитьLooks like a Tesla and a Lotus had a baby
ОтветитьAnd Lotus, like a lot of other brands, will regret switching E/V's only.
ОтветитьThank you for making one of the few videos that focuses on the interior where people will spend time instead of just going around corners.
ОтветитьHonestly, I would have loved it more without the center iPad… I really loved the simplistically of the lotus… I feel they half assed it a little with this one… should have kept some, but not include things that age terribly like screens.
ОтветитьI drove one lots of fun a beautiful design great steering brakes and gearshift! However the Camry engine power has been raised from 270 to 400 Hp due to supercharging - I wonder if the engines internal components were beefed up to handle the extra power by Lotus? If not will Toyota’s Excellent reliability be compromised? At $ 60k IMO a great weekend toy but at $105 k NO . I would rather spend $10k more and get a base Porsche 911 👍
ОтветитьDisappointed!!! I have been a fan of Lotus for a long time, I don’t mind the Toyota team up, but why not the V8? With a supercharger on the 5.8 toy this could be a 550-675 hp, while still allowing parts for a Toyota to be purchased saving the high price of super car parts! The fact that they want to sell all battery cars next year means the Lotus is officially dead in 2023 😢 thanks for ruining the dream I could have bought now 😢 I will be a year picking what to order now thanks to this video, I’m not a fan of corvette but for now the GT500 ford, and the vet might just be the way I go
ОтветитьEven doug loves the Chinese product 😂😂
ОтветитьNot really, its a Geely and slower round a track than a base 718 Cayman.
ОтветитьYou definitely chose the worst color to review
ОтветитьJaguar F-type has no competition Doug.
ОтветитьThis is not a return for Lotus; it's a farewell. Say goodbye to the last of the real cars.
ОтветитьDoes anyone else feel like Doug should’ve been on Broadway I mean he would’ve been shitty but he’s so enthusiastic for no absolute reason
Ответить
