This has been my EXACT experience in teaching. I taught in the public schools for 14 years. It was horrible. I developed rheumatoid arthritis, and a neurological disorder called trigeminal neuralgia as well. I left my position as a fifth grade teacher in the public schools because of a horrible administrator and took a 30k payout to teach middle school language arts in a private Christian school. I am a Christian and was excited to teach in a place where I didn’t have to violate my conscience on a regular basis. From the gate I had the most unbelievable pushback from students who refused to cooperate on any level. It was a daily grind with the viciousness I received. I think these kids like the easy street teachers and will (almost violently) rebel against any teacher with standards and expectations. And I too am really fun and positive. The dealbreaker for me to leave was when a student stole my keys and the administrator did absolutely nothing. I had to pay a locksmith 300 bucks to drive out and make me a key so I could drive home. That was a true case of the inmates running the asylum. I ran, not walked away from that place. Now I make more money as a sales rep. I don’t have panic Attacks anymore and I have 99.9% less stress. Those kids are abusers and they get off on the predatory ways they are allowed to get away with.

When I talked about a teacher with my friend to her face I got in trouble big time. This was in Elementary. My dad had taken all the toys out of my room and put it into the hallway, my aunt made me recite and write paragraphs while sitting in front of my toys of how I would not do it again, and then had me write the complete multiplication table over and over again and recite it to her starting from 1x1= 1 to 12x12 and if I messed up I’d have to go back upstairs IN FRONT OF ALL MY TOYS to restart again.

This kids make horrible rumors about a teacher? Kids will be kids, hehe!

I took my 4th grader and 1st grader out of school to homeschool this year. I’m not a trained teacher and so I second guessed myself at the beginning. However as we are ending this first semester I never want to send them back and these stories encourage me to do whatever possible to continue homeschooling.

The administration made it clear to you that they WOULD NOT be on your side. They informed you to befriend the bad kids parents and told you to look over the comments. So why did you allow them to get to you. Just teach those that wanted it. You should have taped your class sessions, and the meetings. Copied the improvement plan then sewed the board, bottom line. Most interational couples think they will be treated right, intil the wake up call. Sorry.

The only thing you get teaching at a charter school or a private school is the deeper denial of parental failure.

This behavior is called reviling, and the Bible says to have nothing to do with them, and not even eat with them, if they say they are Christians and act this way. Kids that act this way should be publicly shamed. This is one offense that requires very public punishment.

It really depends on the Christian school and its leadership. However, teaching in the inner city is a poor preparation for teaching in private school and dealing with entitled students like this. Some Christian schools are a dumping ground for well-off badly behaved teenagers. Probably a Christian school in a mixed area with less affluent people would be better. Some white people are extremely clannish and rude to outsiders of any race. They put any new people through a nightmare initiation. It's like hazing. I've experienced this kind of behavior from white people, and I'm white. I'm really ashamed when people of English/Scottish/Irish ancestry like myself reinvent the snobbishness of 19th century Britain to our country. Just find another private school with a better church where more of the parents are true Christians. Lots of white people are prickly and nasty, but Christians should rise above their nasty tendencies. It sounds like the elders of the church need to fire some school personnel and expel certain students! This is evil.

I wish you would expose the name of the school. Such a place needs to be exposed

Your experience parallels mine closely. I was hired as an English teacher at a private Christian school in Florida, though I'd also been offered a managerial job at a tropical plants operation. Unfortunately, I allowed the private school's principal to pressure me into joining her faculty--big mistake. From Day One it was a nightmare. There was total mayhem behaviorally from these spoiled brats. And whenever I tried to correct them their parents, who were wealthy, complained to the principal. I hated even going to work every day. I still well recall the frustration and anger that I developed from those ,nine months in Hell.

As a child who was transferred into a private Christian school in 4th and 5th grade (early 90s) it was the most psychologically torturous part of my life. The teachers were not credentialed, most on some alcohol or drug, and feared the students. The students were horrifying and there was no protection whatsoever. I was told by adults that I was making it up.

Gosh, that is so awful. I know I have things at my school but I never went through something like that. You must have gotten that sick eerie feeling every day you went to work. I get that too but its for different reasons. I just have a bunch of rude disrespectful kids that will talk back to you, and you call the parent and the parent will blame you for their kid's misbehavior. Like, they will say, "Well, what were YOU doing to trigger him to act like this?" What were YOU doing. YOU YOU YOU YOU YOU. It's NEVER the child having to take responisibity for their own poor choices. It is always someone else's fault. This is what makes me feel so sick on the inside. Also, last week a fight broke out in my room between a couple of kids, and I called the office for help, and NO ONE CAME. I had to get another teacher with a walkie to call the school security guard for help. And we wonder why there is a teacher shortage

In a country where “racist” is thrown around way too often.. it takes away credibility from when actual racism occurs. In your case, I completely agree with you that this was racism. This sounds like such a nightmare. I am so sorry that these children and parents were so cruel to you and that your administration did not support you. As a fellow teacher for special needs (pk-12), I get the most violent students. I am now working in a private school and see the inner workings of these wealthy families. How their children who do no work get A’s because they donate towards the school. I wish I could spread your story to the world. Shame on them!

More than any “wellness plan” lolol I am so sorry you had to go thru this horrible exp your 3rd year, u sharing your story really does help me prepare for any private religious school (which I almost worked for Jewish orthodox ) I’m sure the “mafia” parent & admin mentality exist across the board for many of these places! Nowadays there's a lot of people making up racism stories (Jussie Smullet), seeing racism where there is none, etc, but your story is 100% racism. I am deeply sorry you had to go through this. Of all places a school calling itself "christian". They probably need to change their name to the Satanist Academy because all of their shitty brats were acting like little racist devils along with the parents.
