If you want to see some other pretty large heated up stupidly hot please let us know! The new furnace is quite large and it's really handy with heavy things.

Great demonstration of the crazy amount of energy needed to phase shift mass

Solid-liquid-gas two phase shifts

Would have been a good oppertunity to reharden the working face if you would have put it on the ice upside down.

Flip the anvil upside down, let the bigger surface area sink first...

How thick is the ice?

Ответить

I had a feeling it wouldn’t make it through. The reason why is due to the water from the melted ice pooling around the anvil and convecting the high temperature of the anvil to the cooler ice around it over time.

So much extra surface area compared to the steel ingot.
It might have worked with the anvil inverted.

The anvil wasn't as hot as the 20kg cylinder, but even if it had been it wouldn't have made that much difference, the poor shape of it was really what stopped it I think. Makes me wonder about what effect the geometry has, could a longer, thinner cylinder get through easier? One like the 20kg cylinder but twice as tall, maybe? If it gets too tall it might fall over though.

Dammit lauri, whoever edited that giant bass drop just woke up my whole house lol. The volume of the bass was so much i had to turn the volume down by 2/3 on the video (was at full), probably like 18 decibels louder than your voice lol. I <3 my subwoofers though, no regrets
