No just no. In the year of 1984 the turtles were born. Each turtle had a specific weapon given to them for no reason. The turtles would kill people all the time in the comics. Plus, Mikey wasn’t a complete goofball in the comics.

nice theory and actually true. This was another thought of Master Splinter as he handed the ninja turtles their weapons. BUT that wasn't his ACTUAL thought. Although nunchakus are used to focus at first, once they get used to it, it becomes usable even when actually chatting. your hand gets used to it and you relax. The stick is also a weapon that can be developed very easily with technology. for this you can watch the 2012 series and the 2003 series. especially the 10th episode of the 5th season in the 2012 series that I remember. I would much rather see the turtles all in red it makes more sense for the turtles to have the same color

the history of ninja they were united under the same outfit due to the fact you never knew how many there were if the turtles have the same color and fighting a group they would pop in and out of the shadows so it would confuse the enemy they would think it's the same 1 just using different weapons in the IDW splinter and shredder both were leaders of the foot clan but later splinter and his kids were murdered so the foot and turtles would have a similar style and being most likely skilled in using each others weapons

I don't know if this is canon, but I've heard that Mikey uses nunchucks because he's actually the most naturally talented of all the turtles, so Splinter gave him the hardest weapon to master.
