Ответитьwhat about angle of cutting? first test wasnt really acurate, blade angled front down will cut faster than blade leveled
Ответитьstihl?
ОтветитьThanks for the tests! I was skeptical that someone could do a fair and scientific test of tree saws, but you managed it somehow, like you always do on your tests.👍
We've had the same or similar corona saw as in the test for about 20 years. After a lot of abuse like sawing roots underground, getting bent by abuse and hacking at many hard wood limbs it's only now getting to the end of its life. Not all of their tools hold up as well in terms of over all durability, but over all it's a great brand for pruning work and one that's easier to find in most hardware and gardening stores. They offer replacement blades for most of their more expensive cutters too which is nice.
I have the corona and fujiwara, I prefer the fujiwara over the corona.
ОтветитьEverything's made in China, then we keep being told China is a military threat. I get sick of lies, or Congress not doing their job.
The Swedish sounds good
I find my chainsaw is so much faster.
ОтветитьCan you do more review with the recent Chinese brand? It's $8 and looks very promising.
Ответитьvery well designed test. I wish you had Friskars in the mix.
ОтветитьI don't knwo why m watchign this, i don't even need this, These r not even available in my country.
UTTER SATISFYING
Time to review Ryoba double blade Japanese saws?
ОтветитьI cut myself with one of these blades once and was wondering if you ever did a video of the best Band-Aids on the market. Because there are many people cut themselves in the shop?
ОтветитьCorona all the way baby
ОтветитьI have just bought the (expensive) Silky and it has proven it's worth the premium (I bought a larger size, so it's not directly comparable other than in terms of product/brand quality.)
I have had the Gerber "for year" (it's a readily available brand) and it has survived years without too much corrosion. There's no way to sharpen these blades and finding replacements just isn't cost-effective. The Gerber has been a reliable tool in the bag. Another option is a drywall saw … cuts through tree limbs like butter.
VERY IMPRESSIVE 😁
ОтветитьGerber used to make flat grey finish foldable knives of unknown steel quality. I guess they changed to industry standard 8Cr13Mov for most of their commercial lineup.
ОтветитьCurved blade vs straight and fine tooth vs rough in dry wood. 😅😅😅
ОтветитьI really appreciate this! I'm surprised the Korean Corona beat out the Japanese saws, especially the Silky, as everyone seems to favour those the most. I also saw a lot of Silky saw reviews showing BROKEN BLADES, and I'm wondering if the issue is caused by the USER or the hardened SAW BLADE
ОтветитьLove all of the reviews. I have been researching rope saws. Would love to see a review from you all on rope saws.
ОтветитьIn my experience everything SOG is terrible and everything Gerber is above average.
ОтветитьGreat test design, easy to understand performance vs what is available locally
ОтветитьNext time you do a folding saw test, I'd also like to see a test for durability with the weight test you briefly did at the end where you continually add more weight to the blade and grade them by when they snap
ОтветитьThis man must be protected at all costs
ОтветитьWatching this after I made my purchase. I’d been looking at Silky but the price.. ended up with a Corona due to reviews and $25 price for the larger 10” blade and love it.
ОтветитьI'll stick to silky. Especially the bigger models are unbeatable in terms of sawing speed and quality
ОтветитьI'm just gonna get the Milwaukee folding jab saw and buy a few blades for it.
ОтветитьYou forgot Opinel, which is better than all of these.
ОтветитьSmall critique: I would like to know the weight of all the saws, as that is a factor for folks packing a hand saw in a backpack. Great video overall though, keep ‘em coming!
ОтветитьCorona, Silky and Agawa Canyon saws are the only ones I use for work, camping, backpacking and trail work. They’ve lasted the longest and stayed sharp the longest too
ОтветитьHad a Corona and broke within 24hrs of use, I've tried a few more but I think the sliky is the winner for me...
ОтветитьCan you do a video about japanese saws ?
Ответитьcan we have the same but with metal handsaws ?
ОтветитьI use a folding hand saw every day for work and it's good to see my choice of Corona was confirmed by your tests. Love the channel and keep up the good work!
ОтветитьOne thing I will mention about the Silky - there are 4 different blade versions available for every size. If you be sure to order the correct blade type based on the wood that you intend to cut, you will have much better results overall.
Here are the available teeth sizes/configurations (tpi = teeth per inch):
7 tpi - Large/Coarse (pruning, green wood)
8.5 tpi - Medium (soft wood)
17 tpi - Fine (hard wood, bamboo)
22 tpi - Extra Fine (dry hard wood)
I think the Silky would've performed better if you chose a blade length that was comparable to the length of the Corona and Samurai saws. The Pocketboy is the smallest in Silky's lineup. The F180 is both longer and cheaper than a Pocketboy and the Gomboy has a range of lengths. It also makes a difference whether you choose a straight or curved blade, and this video includes a mix of both. Some brands have options for both in the same size range. The Corona, Samurai, and Fujiwara are great deals but I think the comparison to the Pocketboy is slightly misleading.
ОтветитьThanks for the time and effort in the test. I never heard of a lot of these saws. I would like to have seen a little more well known saws like Fiskar and Stihl.
ОтветитьWatching this after i bought samurai 240(a bit different design without recurve) 🤱🏻- thats me with my new saw
ОтветитьI have 2 Silkeys cuts on the pull stroke and a fiskar. More $ for the S😢ilkeys worth every $ and I will never use the Fiskar again...Most arborist globaly use Silkys....
ОтветитьThe Bahco didn't even cut the test filament. It just became detached from one end.
ОтветитьShould do Bow Saws and or other saw blades in general
ОтветитьThis is a great video! I'll be picking up the Corona folding saw now. It seems as though you haven't done a video on hatchets... Any chance of getting that one? Thanks for all that you do!
Ответить👍
ОтветитьThose points on the shartness tester might be grams. Watched the video and never have i ever such a saw, but now i know. Quslity as usual🔥
ОтветитьThank you for the very thorough and very methodical benchmark.
ОтветитьThis guy has the biggest toolbox of all time. Every tool, every brand... More of a tool-barn really.
ОтветитьExcellent content as always. If I may, my personal experience with the Bacho Laplander saw has been excellent. I bought it for around $20 Canadian in 2007 and have used it regularly since. Here in Canada it's a bit of a different story though as our access to a lot of these brands is limited, meaning the prices of certain brands overall may be higher due to factors including shipping, customs, duties, and exchange.
ОтветитьThank you for doing the hand saw testing. Now I know what to buy today Project Farm. Keep up the great work too. Sorry have no idea on what to test right now. Maybe next time Sir.
ОтветитьVery well delivered thorough tests as always. Thanks 😊 for all you do
ОтветитьWell shit, this was very helpful to me. I am an arborist, I came into this with a Silky bias. The Silky did very well and are a top notch brand, but I am more impressed with the Corona brand.
Corona for my next hand saw!
