When you play around with Chat GPT and personal statements a bit, you figure that it has a very set pattern of writing and tends to use the same phrases across different prompts. Things like "innate curiosity," "fueled me to...," "weaving into my work ethic," "holistic approach," etc. So it's natural for someone reading 1000's of these PS's to be able to detect the pattern even without an AI detector.
