The machinegun effect on the snare is unforgivable. The lack of some kind of round robin - at least for the snare - boggles the mind. Common, Yamaha, it´s 2023 already!

I could see this as a live jam instrument, but not for recording. MPC and Maschine are far more ideal for profession recording settings

Yamaha you missed out! You should have made the left/right and +/- buttons a knob encoder so we can get creative with the effects on the go! I bet the design and sleekness was more priority.

Mini audio out means an automatic no go for me. Those tiny jacks are a built-in early failure guarantee. One knock the wrong way and you are stuck with a lemon.

Oh no!… back to the Stone Age, with buttons , nested menus, and tiny a LCD screen. Where is the accompanying app, like you do for Pianos and synths (Easy Piano, Montage editor etc.). If you could connect your phone/tablet and see it in a GUI, do the configuration etc, and save to the device from the app (and/or save configurations to the app) it would be a winner. As it stands, I get chills thinking about the time I’ve wasted on LCD nested menus through the years! So tedious!! 😢.
You’re wasting an opportunity to set the standard high Yamaha. 😞
But great pad layout, inbuilt sounds, and portability (built in amp and speaker, battery powered). 👍😊

How many samples are there in the presets, ie. the Maple kit, how many snare hits compromise the snare pad? When I upload my own samples, can I velocity multisample a pad and/or round-robin? When I hit the larger pads, is it correct that I need to release to re-hit (ie. doing a fast double-bass with the thumbs, need to ensure right thumb has released before left hits, vs. having independent L/R thumb pads... again, this is where you'd want multisample support to not keep triggering one sample)? I am uncertain if the left/right sides of the large pads are independent. Very interested, but I definitely have some questions.

The big good news is that now a drummer can jam everywhere with his band because a drums in a bag … very difficult — Ok miss some Midi output too and really hope that I will can to play it with MPC Beats, directly on a MPC One and a Bass or guitar speakers. Impatient to try it but honestly the V2 will be more perfect (Midi, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, …) — Best

If Yamaha were geniuses, this video would have showcased a prototype. Then they could have developed it based on feedback. Too late now. However, if Yamaha are clever, they are already working on the PRO version that includes the features we want:

1) MIDI in and out
2) USB-C
3) Audio LR outs
4) Save beats
5) Loop beats
6) Drum sounds from Motif

I wish it had a rotary encoder to facilitate data entry. Holding buttons down for long sweeps of values can get tedious.

I'd love to see a cross between this and a Wavedrum. The FGDP gives access to full drum kits, by tapping in different areas... while the Wavedrum allows playing naturally like a normal drum and has much greater expressiveness and nuance of rhythm. Would be really cool to have the best of both.

Kinda weird that it only has a 3.5mm output. I would expect at least a 1/4" TRS or XLR. Not to mention MIDI.
